It's not exactly a martial arts style.  It's SCA fighting.  Real armor, and rattan weapons.  Well, the real of the armor does vary depending on the means.  Some have very spiffy period hand-forged platemail, and there are always newbies with carpet secured with duct tape.

Oooo SCA... I don't suppose you are near me are you? I really want to join and get involved, but I really want to find someone I know who is already involved. I'm really shy about just turning up at places and going "Hi! Here I am! Can I do something?"

Majik's slave - don't worry, I have some nice heavy quilts here too.  I get cold very easily, so you can't have them all, but I have more than enough to share.

And if not, we can always snuggle up next to each under the blankets. Purely for warmth.

Aqua you should see bratty's dog charlie, he's a big goofball. He'll attempt to keep you warm, although he might want to sleep on your head.

Actually, most groups are very open to that.  I'm in Illinois, sadly.  To chime in  on another discussion, I'm the exact opposite.  I wilt in the heat, so I prefer winter.  You can always add another blanket or find a warm body.  If it's too hot, the thought of being near other people is just guhnasty.     Let me ask around and see if I know of anyone in the Canton of Hindscroft ( http://hindscroft.atlantia.sca.org/ ).  You're in Atlantia.  http://www.atlantia.sca.org/   I know you'd enjoy it, and perhaps we'll meet at Pennsic someday.

But... so shy!!! *cowers and whispers* I stutter so going to new places without a "safety" of some kind is pretty scary for me.

I think I'm going to have to do that though. I've been semi-involved but always had to stop for various reasons. I really want to go to Pennsic! I've heard such great things about it!

PS. The link won't work for me for some reason.

Rattan?.....only for protection.   Full impact redwood sword is my preference, and what I keep next to my bed at night.  And hey!...one small cookie and a taste of ice cream  is not out of the question...just another hour on the courts is all it means to me.   Seems with the recent posts that this thread had gone to the "dogs" or at least who owns them...as for me it's a hundred pound pure bred German Shephard that I own, or rather thinks it owns me...LOL! .  But hey I've been on a brownie binge for a few days now, so a few more exercises are in order!

Chrissy - shuuuuussssshhhhh...sword pushed back into it's shealth!

My sister has two rescued greyhounds, one who weighs 105lbs, and the other 85. They're both in racing shape, they're just huge dogs. I have 4 cats, and a guinea pig who believes he runs the household.   He's smart for something with a brain the size of a marble.  He knows the sound of the refrigerator door, and believes that this means it's time for him to have more carrots!

Those poodles can be bad, but the 4 rats I own are nearly as bad, as they are old and some with tumors.  Time to operate!

They are cool animals!...and have raised many liters of them and sold them to pet stores.  It's amazing how many babies can come out of a momma rat!...record for my bunch is 13 in one go.  But at three years the four remaining are pretty old, and tend at that old age to have a bit of poor health, and tumors is not unusual.  One tumor is bad, open and hardened so might have to remove it...but not my style.  But who pays $300 to have a rat treated to let it live a few months longer,  but I tell you they get steak every night and always have a clean cage so they have gotten royal treatment (and no... they are not overweight either).

I take very good care of my "pets," and when I have a committed master I expect him/her to take good care of myself just as much.

Just let me observe what your profile indicates: 180 lbs at 5'3" and suffer from a host of physical and mental problems, and no photos.  No further comment is required.

chrissy

i'll be happy to send you photos if you're curious :) i took them down (after having them displayed off and on for quite some time) due to the nature of my dominant's work and the fact that i'd rather protect his privacy. also because i get far fewer "kneel bitch" emails without photos, and far more based on who i am as a person, rather than my physical appearance.

physical and mental problems: fibromyalgia, spondylolisthesis (and arthritis and disk degeneration due to the spondylo), cerebral palsy (mild), post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety. oh, and migraines.

what does any of that have to do with my weight or my physical appearance? wait...let me think...nothing! :) the main reason i list it is some people do not want partners who have a history of ptsd, etc. as well as many people advertise that they are looking for partners who are able to do strenuous physical stuff, etc. well, i can dance my ass off, i can yoga til the cows come home, i swim, i walk a few miles a day, usually, i elliptical, i do a hell of a lot of other stuff, but i'm not likely to go rock climbing, running, or sailing anytime soon.

fyi, the weight gain was mainly due to starting and stopping medication around the time of my parents' deaths, as well as the stress that ensued around that time. i haven't been able to lose it, regardless of how little i eat or how much i exercise, mainly because an eating disorder that lasted several years has destroyed my metabolism, and compounded with stress, it becomes very difficult. i've become happier with myself, so now i don't obsess about losing it anymore. as my nutritionist said, "you're eating fine already, you can't eat any less, you can't exercise any more, guess you better start liking it here."

people's profiles indicate a lot of things.  yours, for example, indicates that you have an inferiority complex. i don't run around making veiled (or not so veiled) snide remarks to you about it, though. the op's could have indicated everything from he was cheating to he was a pastor, but the majority of people reserved judgment until he clarified what he meant by discreet.

Ten points for Annabelle, along with some cookies.  Or, for the health conscious, some pumpkin cake made with applesauce and whole wheat flour, thereby making it almost a vegetable.  Not much I can do with the cream cheese frosting, but wow is it good.
