underlimited -> how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 5:44:03 PM)

I am always curious, how did any of you hear about collarme? 98% of profiles seem to reflect that a person joining knows what they are looking for. Rarely do we see a profile of someone who is 'just curious'. Proboably, noone just stumbled here accidentaly. So how did you all get there? Are there any other places where you actively show/advertise your kinky side?

I heard about it through a BDSM snark community. I joined to see if I would get e-mails that were just as bad. I did. But I also found the forums so I think it evens out. [:)]

I was trying to remember this the other day.  I can't say where I saw it at, but I think it was on some site someplace.  It has taken a while for me to learn the in's and out's of bdsm, but I do appreciate this site for showing both the good and the bad side of people involved.

Someone mentioned it on Literotica, and I was curious.

Someone (not a member here) who I had 'met' in an AOL chat room.  Suggested I come here to become known through my writing.

It was mentioned a couple of times in the long since defunct chat room called "Dominant Women" in the yahoo chat user-created rooms. (aka, word of mouth)

I'm sorry, I missed that part of your question the first time I read it. Yes, there are other places I am open about my lifestyle, such as
http://www.myspace.com/beachmystress
http://beachmystress.femdommesociety.com/dommeprofile.php
as well as the other fetish personals sites. I'm also fairly open in real life, attending munches and dungeons. I do guard our real names, but other than that, I am fairly out there.

One of the dogs I run with in another pack mentioned it to me :-) (Hi Mouse!) She was pointing it out as an example of a (ahem) targeted online site :-)

Suleiman -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 6:29:22 PM)

Actually, I've seen quite a few "just curious" profiles. The trolls and HNGs scare them all away within a day or two.

It's been so long, I don't recall exactly how I stumbled onto the site, but I'm pretty sure it was a random hit on google.

I don't go anywhere else online to actively wave my freak flag, but I also haven't felt much need to. I'm not shy about my interests and affiliations, but I get bored with online stuff pretty easily, and don't go prowling around for erszatz social contact on a frequent basis. I really enjoyed the time I spent here and the friends I've made from the message boards, so when I had the luxury of internet access I'd come back. Most forums die the death of a thousand trolls in that amount of time, but collarchat seems to have weathered the storm for the most part.

Ye gods - you want me to have a memory, too!? :S

windchymes -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 6:45:53 PM)

I was at a friend's house and it was on his computer.  He had forgotten to log out, it caught my eye and I checked it out.

(Do you know her?)

DominaSmartass -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 6:58:50 PM)

It was actually all thanks to LA. She probably doesn't even know this. But at some point around May or June of 2005 we were emailing back and forth and she mentioned it, perhaps inviting me to read her LJ and her CM profiles or something...and that's when it all began for me.

shadevarr -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 7:01:25 PM)

It was recommended by a fellow dominant that I know locally.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 7:03:53 PM)

My mentor told me about this site, after I was divorced. Shew knew I had been on alt for a while and getting no where since I refused to pay for the service. She suggested here, she had seen the site and a few of the ads, though she never signed up herself. She didnt like looking online, but she knew I had no problem with it.
I have to say, I did better on here in less than a month than I did on alt for the couple of years I belonged there.

Actually, I was told about it by My last pet.  Now that he is My pet no longer, I thought it might be a good place to check out.  I tend to be on the message boards more than anything, though.  I don't think I would make a very good troll.

curiouslyseeking -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 7:32:29 PM)

Yahoo, the powers that be....

Search engine for BDSM personal ads = Collarme.

Aileen68 -> RE: how did you hear about collarme? (3/15/2007 7:47:12 PM)

I uncovered bondage dot com through the magic that is Google.  From there I found here.
