Male nudes are the norm in Greek art, even though historians have stated that ancient Greeks kept their clothes on for the most part. New research suggests that art might have been imitating life more closely than previously thought.

Nudity was a costume used by artists to depict various roles of men, ranging from heroicism and status to defeat.

Bloodie artists...very suspect I say.

Tho' I believe in the ancient Greek games the athletes used to be nude.
I think they should bring that back in the Olympics.
I would love to be Mr Starter as the nude female athletes took their marks in the sprint events.

When the men stepped to the podium I would make my excuses and leave.

My understanding is that the Greeks thought the male body was the most perfect form.  That is way men are shown more in their art then women.  For the most part they did keep their clothes on..I do believe in sporting events they did leave their cloths off.
