Or "Praise Allah" or whatever.
I was listening to the car radio and came across one of those "Holy Roller" stations and they must have used the term, "Praise the Lord" 20 times in five minutes.
Think about it.
God created the whole Universe, do you think He really needs to hear "Praise the Lord!" from some putz in South Carolina? Or to hear it 15 billion times a day from the whole human race?
I mean they say that God created us in his own image right?
Ok, so God wakes up in the morning, takes a leak and puts the coffee on (or maybe "Mrs God" puts the coffee on) (I don't know, it doesn't make any difference.)
Then he has to wade through the billions of prayers that were said the night before and decide which ones to grant. ("Hillary Clinton's praying like hell again Mrs!" "President? Why it'll be a cold day in hell before I .....")
I mean how many times a day do you think God hears "God is great!" or "Praise Allah" or whatever?
Don't you think God would just be a little bit tired of that by now?
It seemed very trite to me as I was listening to the radio; "Praise the Lord!"
"No shit!"
I mean aren't we cutting into the Big Guy's social life with all these requests and prayers and "Praise the Lords?"
I think God already knows that He's pretty cool without hearing it over and over and over!
What do you think?

i think god appreciates the sentiment. mostly though, i think it's a hypnotic brain wash type thing to make people believe in the chanter. it's a popularity contest and a power trip, and the one who lightens more hearts and opens more wallets wins. praise the lord and pass the tambourine!

Well popeye, I like hearing it and I usually say about 10 times a day--"Thank you Jesus or Help me Lord!"
So I hope he does not tire of ME saying it!
I believe the expression is, knock and he will open the door--so here is to knocking.

It's all bullshit...God doesn't care which football team wins. God doesn't reward those who pray...And no offense to anyone, but I think God finds all of the "knocking" to be a nuisance.  How it works is God has given you all of the tools and he/she expects you to be capable of opening the door yourself.

I think God likes to know we appreciate all that we have and if we express it with a "Praise the Lord!" or "thank you Jesus!" it can be felt by those around us. Besides it is told in the bible to talk to god, to leave our problems in his hands, that he wants those things from us, to not be too proud to ask for help from the Lord of all creation..... Some people just take it too far and some not far enough. And lord knows the jaded ones only cry cause their pleas or prayers don't get heard but I know miracles happen, I see them every day, Praise the Lord!

Domiguy, I think that's probably pretty close to the way it works.
I don't see God as some guy sitting on a throne in white flowing robes with a bunch of stern-faced saints around him (or her) and a note pad with my name on it counting everytime I wiped a booger under the couch.
I mean how does he put up with that constant yammering by people telling Him how "cool" he is?
"OK! OK! I KNOW I'M COOL! ENOUGH ALREADY! ENOUGH!"
(God talks in caps I guess.)
I mean really, don't you think God would get just a little tired of all the ass-kissing from people looking for stuff?
I know He hasn't answered any of my prayers yet, I STILL haven't hit the Powerball lottery! (hint, hint)
Just think of all the "GOOD" I could do if I hit the Powerball lottery!!!
I wonder how many times the Big Guy's heard that?

I believe that people should say it if they like.  I'm going to make a bet that it's the intent that the Lord they're praising really cares about.  Besides, if it's on a specialized radio station, just turn it off.  (Of course that's easy to say, as some of them are something like a train wreck.  You want to look away and you just can't.)

Yeah, for the most part I agree.  But posting it on a message board for a BDSM site is probably not going to convince anyone.

And hey, God may not answer all our prayers, but I sincerely doubt that he'd get pissed off over people saying, "Hey, thanks for everything.  You're awesome."  Because, like you said, if we're made in his likeness and image then he probably likes having his ego stoked a little now and again if it's truly meant, and everyone likes getting a well deserved thank-you note.  Who doesn't?

In Chicago as well as around the country people have been praying to God for the last one hundred years for the Cubs to win the World Series...Either God hates the Cubs, or Cub fans or just really hasn't been paying attention.

You've never read muc h of the Bible have you?  Retorical question, if you had you wouldn't be asking such a stupid question.

The man believes in offerings being given to him.  since we no longer do animal sacrifices other things are used.  Such as praise.

Or was your whole purpose in the post just a underhanded swipe at Hillary?

He can't hate them too much, he gave them Billy Williams, Ernie Banks, and Andre Dawkins.
