JoDee Messina got me through a nasty divorce.

"Somebody's gonna give you a lesson in leaving, somebody's gonna give you back what you've been givin'...."

and "Bye bye, love, I'll catch ya later, got a lead foot down on my accelerator...."

Most appropriately (and i swear this is true) it was "Hurts So Good" by John (Cougar) Mellancamp.  i was a kid (age 10-11) when it first came out and i vividly remember the first time i heard it.  i had to go and buy the cassette and i wore that song out listening to the words.  i couldn't believe he was actually saying what he was saying....i could soooo relate.  Not that i had ever experienced such a thing but, by that age, i had SURE started imagining it...lol.  My classmates and girlfriends loved it too but not because of the words.  i always wondered if they were really grasping what he was saying about how it "hurt so good" like i was  [;)]   slave luci

Goodbye Blue Sky by Pink Floyd

when i saw The Wall for the first time, the lyrics had me questioning the promises of administration during the Gulf War while the animation does haunt me. every time i hear it, i get chills seeing how this song could be about the current administration.

Let It Be - The Beatles - Though it had a lot of Catholic imagery that I was not comfortable with the message was one that I took to heart. That there are times that you really cannot do anything about the situation and all you can do is let things happen as they will happen and pray to what ever power that be that you will come out of it with your sanity and in one piece and at least with the clothes on your back.

There are many times I have had no choice but to go back and pull this song out and listen to it over and over again because my life has gotten to such a low point that I do not see a way to come out of it whole. Yet, I manage to find a way and by some miracle something pulls me out of that pit of despair and financial ruin until I am on my feet again.

I have lost everything three times and am on the verge of it again, this time however I am going into it willingly, and headon because it is the only way I can get my freedom from an oppression that I have lived in too long. The other in the situation will come out of it smelling sweet, but I will come out of it with virtually nothing but a very few items and starting over. So as the song goes I will say, "Let it be!" I will survive, and what will come will come, at least I will come out of it with my sanity and this time my freedom will be restored.

"It's Not About You" by the Ennis Sisters -- aimed at my ex while going thru a VERY acrimonious divorce.

Lazlo Bane and The Why Store got me through a very rough part of my life, as did Blues Traveler. I was able to meet John Popper and thank him and it was a very touching moment. He is a great man.

I have to say, probably the song that helped me most in difficult times was Were not going to take it (anymore)/Twisted Sister. It got me through a very rough part of my life.
Angel Fly's to close to the Ground/Willie Nelson helped then too.
And of course The Dark Side of the Moon/Pink Floyd.
I know heavy metal, country, ballad rock...but I like almost all types of music.
Thanks for all Your answers.
