Greetings,

I am wondering how to care for toys that are fur or are partially fur.
Specifically a rabbit-fur flogger, and a heavy paddle that has rabbit fur on one side.
I am also considering a chinchilla fur flogger at some point, (I don't know if you have to care for different types of fur toys differently.)

I would greatly appreciate any advice on cleaning them, sanitizing them, storing them, etc.

Thank you in advance!

belle

Leather is difficult to sanitize.  Add thousands of little hairs and you are asking for the impossible.  My best advice is to restrict the use of a fur toy to one person only.

As to storage, we have cloth tubes for our beaver fur floggers.  After use they are each placed in their own tube and hung.  The cloth tube allows any wetness that might have gotten on the flogger to evaporate while protecting the flogger from dust.

Wish i could help you more, however, fur cleaning is a very specialized process and not one that i believe can be done at home.  Bunny fur is very inexpensive.  May i suggest that a new flogger be made when necessary and a new covering be added to the paddle as needed.

Do a browser search for care of fur coats and that will tell
you the details on storage, temperature, humidity, cleaning,
etc.  You can also walk into any store that sells high quality
leather and furs to ask questions and purchase cleaning
products.  Bunny fur is the least expensive option and
I recommend having different fur floggers for different
individuals.

Welcome to the forums, bellanotte.

Thank you both, for the information, and for the welcome!
I think the restriction of the toys to the single person is a good idea, as well as making storage tubes. And I will definitely google some articles on care of fur.
