torontonovice -> Quality Rubber Balls (3/19/2007 4:33:46 PM)

Recently, I have gotten in to making my own bondage equipment, and especially like making gags.  In the past, I've used 2" bouncy balls (often reffered to as superballs) to make ball gags.  However these are poor quality, and can break down rather easily.  What's worse, I can seem to find them any more.  Last week I bought a small dog toy made by the Kong company (actually the basis for my next penis gag) and was quite impressed with the quality of the rubber.  Kong makes balls, but none of them seem to be small enough to actually fit in a person's mouth.  Does anyone know of balls made of similar rubber in the 1 3/4" to 2 1/4" diameter made of similar rubber?  Or has anyone had success using another type of ball?

Thank-you in advance

Some time ago I posted a similar thread, but came up with no good sources. I still can't figure out how they get the leather through the ball so neatly. Any advice would be greatly appreciated by me, too.

I've had the same problem, and can never quite find what I'm looking for. There has to be a few sources, but I've never been able to find one. Several people I know that are into making leather gear and gags, have told me that a few of the companies that have been very good sources, have gone out of business ...one was in England.

You could try the local pet store, they have solid rubber balls for small dogs ranging to large ones (don't try inserting one of those large ones) they are easy to drill through to put rope, chair attachments etc.

Have fun.

The problem I've found with the pet store balls, is they tend to be too hard, and can oten split. In addition, some have a very nasty taste, which might be a good feature, depending on the situation, but it wasn't a big plus for me.

A chain of dollar stores in my area carried solid-colour 1.5" diameter superbounce balls in a package of 3 for $1.15 (after tax): 1 purple, 1 blue, 1 yellow.  From a pack of 3, one would typically crack or split while being drilled, but two would work okay.  I would have preferred them a bit larger, but (as everyone here is noting) it's hard enough to find suitable balls without getting picky.

The cracking can be a big problem, as I once had a sub split one of those during a scene, just by biting down too hard during some impact play. I haven't used that type of ball ever since, as it could be a big safety hazzard.

Could try the rubber band type of ball, just need to becareful when biting down, possibly could wrap in leather, don't know about the last though as I have never tried it.

what's wrong with a racquet ball??? you could fill it with Popcorn kernals, something else, or just leave them empty.

Greetings:

i have made ball gags from golf balls of all things.  (i realize that they are not rubber, but have had a chance to make one)  i have not had the chance to test them yet but was given a task a while back to make one by a former Master and having done so, i was quite pleased with myself for having completed one of the harder tasks He had assigned me.

hoping this helps and may even give a few laughs

Blessed Be

In terms of getting the strap through the ball, I use a drill press and vice, and drill progressively larges holes through the ball until i've reached the desired size.  In terms of the super balls, I've used them in the past, but wasn't overly impressed, and haven't been able to find them as of late.  I don't imagine that anyone knows of any companies that cater to do-it-yourself bondagers?

Yanno, I came to the conclusion that in the time I spent looking for resources and the money I spent on experimenting and shipping, I could have bought a kick-ass ball gag, like the ones sold by Midnight Blue's. Theirs are the best I've ever seen.  A few other stores carry them, such as Madame S or Stockroom, but Midnight Blue's is the maker and I like to go to the source :)

You might try http://www.orientaltrading.com/ .  They have rubber balls and other items for crafty things.

Be well,
Julie
