You will know when you have had too much Vitamin C by your bowel movements. Too much will cause diarrhea. Under a physicians care, I was once prescribed 40 grams a day - not miligrams, but grams. Lots of controversy on high doses of C, but lots of research to show the benefits. I didn't take it all in one sitting, mind you, but throughout the day. The doctor I was seeing is a nationally renowned specialist who knew what he was doing. I wouldn't recommend such doses without close supervision. High doses aid in healing from surgery (some physicians will give an IV drip of ascorbic). In most cases, such high doses isn't necessary. If I have a cold or flu, I'll take about 8-10 grams a day. When healthy I might take 1000mg a day if I remember. Otherwise, eat lots of fruits and veggies. No clue on the B vitamins. At the time I was take 2 "B-50" tablets a day which had an adequate amount of the B family.
