No photos but this news story has a high squick factor. If the thread about licking boots fresh from the stable bothered you, then it might be good to skip this news item.

Hey, don't give leech's a badn name. They were used for hundred's of year's in medicine.
So, one went the wrong place uninvited. Is that any reason to bash the leech?

However, imagine drinking ones pee. That is my biggest concern when drinking fresh water while hiking. So now I carry a little water bottle with a filter on it. It still isn't the same but at least it keeps me safe.

Just because they are used in medicine does not make them any less gross. My mom has a creek running through her backyard and it has leeches in it and I spent too many hours pulling them off of my younger sisters. I can't imagine having one up my nose.

Maybe Ia m operating under wrong assumption but wouldn't you be able to see something as obvious as a leach in water. and wouldn't yiou check to make sure what you're splashing on face does not have said leaches?

Yuck.... I know leeches are still used in hospitals, but I've often wondered weather I'd rather die 1st, lol. M

Same here! Honestly, I have a HUGE and irrational fear of slugs... don't even get me started on leeches! I think my biggest fear would be having leeches on me. I'm pretty sure I'd rather die lol.

Kind of a side note, but I had my nose cauterized because of excessive nose bleeds... What I thought was 3 inches or so of gauze packing turned out to be closer to 3 feet! It's amazing just how much you can fit up there haha. I can't even begin to describe the feeling you get as they take that out while you're fully concious! Worse than breaking my leg in my opinion. Anyway, I'm off to bed. Sure I'll have nice dreams tonight *sigh*

Oh, geez, you guys are all such wimps! Listen, if anyone should get a leech stuck up their nose this is by far the best method to get rid of it:

How's YOUR hand-eye coordination ?
