I have a picture in my profile or if you need a closer up to face pic just say so I can provide. I was wondering with my complexion my eyes what color eyeshadow should I use. I am predisposed to like browns and shimmery colors. Also would it look good to line the lower lid? Also I put on Mascara today and I really do not notice a diffrence in my lashes.

You might want to visit a department store and ask one of the make-up counter girls to help you out. Often, they will do a 'make-over' in the hopes that you'll buy something. You might want to let them know you are looking to just 'enhance' your natural features so they don't 'clown' you up. I find the new double mascaras to be good. I like the Double Extend from L'Oreal. You might want to do soft black or brown-black for starters. Hope this helps, Lily

I know make up counters will do that I've had it done long long time ago they are helpfull sometimes also but most makeup samples are old or contaminated . I know a lot of people would so nuh uh not true but yeah most those samples sit out all day long exposed to any one who walks by and touches it. Plus it's really just a hassle to go to the malls to do just that, I hate the malls. Except the toy stores but that's a whooooole nother topic* laughs* But thank you for taking time to stop in and suggest the make overs. I've had my colors profiled before they say I am a springish color, I am just in a girly girl mood tonight. I did my hair and my makeup and I had a pic took lol.

Hey Feline, Your skin looks like it would look good in soft but brighter colors... try black liner and light grey/pink/shimmery over eyes. Estee Lauder had Volumizing lash mascara: you need a good mascara that increases volume and extends (Loreal or Estee lauder has them). ...Do ask make up associates at the stores they'll help too, and keep in mind less is more; I've never liked excessive makeup, makes people look like clowns. M

There are also a bunch of new colored eye liners out this spring and summer. Blues, greens and purples are flying of the shelves here almost faster then we can get them in stock. Surprisingly they don't look clownish or too bright, but they are a great way to give an extra boost to your color. Almay has come out with a new line called Intense i-Color, you match it to your eye color and there are eye shadow pallets, liners and mascaras specific to your eye color.

yes less is more. I do not go for all that 5 pound crap most women pile on. I only wear lipstick and eyeshadow.With my skin I have naturally pink cheeks, blush is over kill.

I have two friends who work for MAC and they wipe down all the samples several times each shift. They're hardly "old" or "contaminated". ~stef

I think the tip for getting a make up demonstration done is a good one. If you don't want to go to a mall, some of the salons or spas do make up as well. I had one done at a salon a few years ago, only because I felt like I had been doing the "same-old/same-old" for a long time and wanted to see if I could get some updating. So they're not even just for make up newbies. And yes, they definitely will try to sell you something, so be prepared. I agree with Lily on the Double Extend mascara and really like that one. When you said you didn't notice the difference with using mascara, did you use it on the bottom lashes as well as the upper ones? I know some people who have said they don't like using it on the lower, but I personally think it makes a big difference. However, for me, mascara is an absolute necessity because I have very fair eyelashes and without the mascara, they're invisible. Be well, harmony

No, I didn't use it on the bottom. I have dark black top an bottom eyelashes it just never looked right to me on the bottom. Could try it next time what do I have to loose. I am not going anywhere if it looks islly wash it off an try again:)

The MAC policy is all about hyper clean samples. They have disposable applicators and clean their brushes before every application right before you. MAC is all I use for make-up actually. They have the phenomenal colours and very qualified make-up artists working for them. My MAC guy here is bluntly honest with me and we have a blast when I go see him. And he's also into the fetish fashion community which is a huge bonus. The most important thing is to be honest with the person. Tell them the effect you are looking for and if they are off track, tell them that they are, in a polite way of course. Remember that you are the customer and as long as you are expressing your needs in a diplomatic and pleasant manner, they are there to help you find a proper fit to your needs. It might help to bring a friend who's opinion you value. - LA

Ok so maybe their not contaminated it was on the news or something that most were. The artical was about the shelf life of makeup and I hear mention contamination..... I am looking for the effect of pretty color but you'd have to do a double take to make sure it was make up. I don't like looking made up I just love the touches of color:)

Discounting the fact that many news programs exist primarily to sensationalize facts, they were possibly referring to the makeup testers that you can find in drug and department stores, not staffed make-up counters. It might be worth a trip into Sacramento to check it out. If you're looking for something natural, take a look at Origins or some of what Benefit has to offer. ~stef

The only mac I could think of was military airlift command. I've heard the same thing about the cosmetics. Maybe some stores take better care of theirs than other's. Long time ago I was an Avon lady, one of the things we learned...when they used to teach you things. Was, don't use the same cosmetics person to person no matter what. So, I still would'nt try it. I'd probably for for the profile..then work off of that to the best of my ability. The color's it tells you would look nice. You can always purchase them there and have them help you with them. Of course, I'm a more natural person myelf. Only on occassions where my skin is not looking right do I wear makeup. Just to look natural again. So, I'm no expert but offering the best advice I can.

Expert or not contributing to the thread is nice too. I don't wear it much either see like next to never, however I am wanting to do it once in a while when I go out with my mate for a date* hey that rymes lol* Or to help pick myself up when I feel dumpy or want to do photo shoots with lil lil photosmart camera.
