I'm interested in hearing about peoples, specifically female bottoms, experience with bootblacking. When I first came into the scene 7 years ago, I knew people who incorporated it into their D/s rituals, but haven't seen much heterosexual bootblacking (Male Dom/female sub/slave/bottom) in a while. I occasionally go to the leather men's bar to watch the gay bootblacks in action, and I enjoy watching them as well. I know it exists, and I have an interest in it from a ritualistic standpoint, and would love to hear stories and perhaps get some good resources for it. Thanks, Lily

Hi Lily :) My last Master was in the military, and as his kajira, one of the things I had to do was keep his boots polished and waxed. It is a very humbling experience, to kneel at and attend to a man's feet, or footwear... Bootblacking sort of comes between kissing/ licking his feet, and rubbing them after a hard days work... whether he is wearing them or not, there is a nice submissive satisfaction in attending to his boots. I guess it really impresses your status as the domestic servant upon you. As for references, well, I don't know what to offer you, as he taught me how to do it. But good luck in your search! I work in a very professional environment in which the clothing is definitively circumspect towards how others will perceive another. Regardless, (and, with my suit) I wear my boots. They are rather innocuous unless someone is looking, but the reason that they are, is that my girl has become an expert at bootblacking. This is a personal fetish of mine (to have them polished to a high sheen) - whether it is from the military, or, from a personal preference - I am not one to analyze; but, (and, regardless) - this is something that she has truly come to love to do for me once (or, more) a week. She built a bootblack box/kit - she has actually studied the folks at the professional venues to see what materials and techniques they use... and, she is quite good. It is a ritual... it is a regular staple in our lives. ~J

I knew this one girl who served as bootblacker of the evening. I think she polished over 80 pairs of boots that night. Her tongue was black! Oh..one of my favorite subjects! I am a bootblack and a fem bootblack at that. There are some of us around (fem bootblacks) but we are a small minority. I imagine this is because in the past bootblacking was a male oriented skill..one that, for the leather community, got it's origins in the military. Ironically, in victorian times girls (young girls) were also street bootblacks. I have been honing my skill for 6 years..ever since I became property of Master Archer. He taught me some basics he learned in the military and I have taken that knowledge and continued to learn and practice...and teach. Like most things in life it is a never ending education...and one I adore. What bootblacking and what is a bootblack? I c&p from one of the handouts I use when teaching a bootblack class: Bootblacking is the art and knowledge of caring for leather, most commonly leather boots. Bootblacking is more than just polishing a pair of boots: it can involve the cleaning, conditioning, dyeing and polishing of all leather items. Bootblacking is done by a myriad of people regardless of sexual orientation, gender or gender presentation, BDSM orientation, relationship status, race, age, etc. Being able to shine a pair of boots does not make one a Bootblack. A Bootblack has often devoted many hours to training, product evaluation and practice. He is able to give knowledgeable suggestions about leathercare and often shares information to others who wish to learn about the art. I love bootblacking as a ritual..as a service..sometimes as a means to instant gratification..and sometimes as a sexual fullfillment. Overall it is somewhat of a spiritual task. In a way I am topping while serving. When bootblacking I am in charge of the boot. Regardless of who is wearing the boot (or shoe, or pants or other leather garment) I am in charge of it..it is my responsibility to care for it. I can go on and on..but for now I must go and prepare for the 3 hour bootblacking and leathercare class I am teaching this afternoon. Cleaning, polishing, unlacing and lacing were a daily chore if you could call it that, for me. my former did construction and before he would leave in the am, his boots were to be clean and de-mudded (is that even a real word?), and it was my job to kneel at his feet and lace and tie his boots right before he walked out the door. When he came home, i would be on my knees and unlace him, as he showered, i would scrub, polish, replace laces, ect. as needed. i enjoyed it because on my knees was the way he left me in the moring, i felt it showed him the respect he deserved for working hard labor 9+ hours so that i can have a well cared for household, and then agian on my knees as soon as he came home, almost the perfect thank you to a hard day of work. The wonderful thing about it is, it can be rewarding, or punishment, depending on how severe the infraction, i got the pleasure of licking some nice construction site dirth from the tops of his boots, never the bottoms thank lord, but, generally speaking, once of that is all one really needs to correct a behavior that one would find paticularly annoying or incorrect..... It showes apperciation, respect, i enjoy taking care of a Masters property in the manner in which i hope to be treated. ~ edited to add more thoughs on the subject, and...because i am a poor speller!

Thanks, Lily You're right - boot blacking doesn't seem to be really catching on in the het circles, but it is nevertheless, alive and well in the gay leather communities - both for men and women. There are now whole national boot black competitions (a google will take you to numerous sites). Bootblacking is part of a service I perform for my owner. I would not consider myself a 'bootblack' per se. It is not a fetish for my owner or myself. But since she does enjoy my cleaning her leathers, I have been trained in the art and have developed a functional level of proficiency. It can be a wonderfully erotic and intimate service to perform. In the gay leather communities which I am involved in, trusting someone with the care of one's leathers is a pretty big deal. It is an honor to have one's boots shined and an honor for the person doing the shining!

Thank you to Elegant and Smilezz for the links and everyone else for sharing their experiences. I've read oodles of sites and have spoken to several of you and gotten great advice and resources. Thanks to Talldarkandwitty, I've successfully blacked my first pair of boots! It was an amazing experience, I was practically high when we were done. They were in bad shape when he brought them to my house, complete with salt stains, and when I was done, they looked awesome and they had a mirror finish. Thanks for all the support, Lily
