a true slave would never impose her way as the only way onto others

lol

jewel, can you elaborate? they way your reply reads to me, it seems you are agreeing with both sides.

I interpreted her as saying the mockers of "true" come across as more condescending and righteous as those who use the word "true."

that sounds about right to me

yeah Mixi... i'm confused too.

I've read Jewel's reply 3 times and i'm not sure... It sounds like she's agreeing with Amayos and yet disagreeing with him.... gah.. i just woke up thought it was me.

i dont know why everyone has to OBSESS over the usuage of the word.  Can we find a new word to obsess over?  Find one, pick one, w/e - but all this true and real stuff is getting so old and over played.

Who cares anyways?  Whats the big dealio?  Some one calling me fake or not real is not going to change MY day.  I'm not going to particularly care, so i guess i'm at a loss as to why you all care?

I agree.

Yet all you have to do is look at damn near every thread as of late to see that apparently it matters a lot to some people.

IMO most people DO use it as a way to put down others and apply their very limited perspective of "what this all is" to places and people they have no business doing so.

But not always.

Then that is your issue to deal with, not the writer's.  You can interpret anything you read any way you like.  That doesn't mean that your interpretation matches what the writer intended.

i've only heard references to 'true' sub/slaves and 'true' Dom/mes used in chat.  not in any real life bdsm realm.   sadly, it's easy to mask yourself online, however what i wonder, as some of you have stated, what's the definition of true?   is there some measuring stick i'm not aware of? lol  online i've been ask 'how submissive are you?'... to which i always reply  "how Dominant are you?"   simply no way to have a rating number on this.   ohhh here's an idea.. maybe.. just maybe.. getting to know someone is how to find out just how true they are.  WOW i'm a GENIOUS!!!!!!!   lol

You know me soooo well, thank you ownedgirlie. Most likely, looking at the time of the post, I had been awake from my morning nap about five minutes.

*Grin* and here in the west, I had been out of bed about five minutes.  Apparently our "awake for five minutes" communications are similar.

And I agree with your statement too, by the way.

FR (directed against no one...or maybe, everyone)

Oh, I don't know.  There is a LONG history of using "True" to claim the supposed high ground and "diss" those that don't slavishly follow.  Those that use "True" to set aside their brand of BDSM have good company, after all.  Racists, bigots and haters of all stripes have used the claim of the "one TRUE way" for centuries.  Viz:

quote:

Almost all churches and Christians disagree on important issues. It appears that God is not leading them because He would lead people to the one truth and not contradict himself. Almost everybody must be wrong. If people claim that God led them to a belief or decision, it should always be correct. Otherwise it is not really God leading them. I know many sincere and caring people seeking God and his word. However, God may not be truly leading anyone we know for the above reasons.  -- from

OR MAYBE ITS:

quote:

Hence he believes in the advisability of having as politicians not only men who can lay some valid claim to a knowledge of humanity, but also men who belong to the stock of those whose policy they are called upon to direct. He also disbelieves, therefore, in having Jews or men of foreign extraction or odd people—that is to say, eccentrics, cranks and fanatics—as politicians in an English Parliament.
Anthony Ludovicci, The True Conservative

OH WAIT!  Maybe its:

quote:

Do you think that when most 'Americans' are actually Mexicans, Asians, or Africans, that the country will remain the same? What sort of a place will your children be living in decades from now, when Clinton's above wish [that there be no "majority race" in the USA] has come true? But look at the above demographics again. When the national electorate is dominated by other races, how is is their government going to rule? Are they going to look after your children and their future, as we currently look after theirs?  No, because ours is the one true race, the white race.

--From "White Truth", one of innumberable white supremacy screeds on the web

So, when the OP calls out the use of "TRUE" I think she's on to something.  But that's just me.  I hear people claim a superior knowledge of B/D/S/M and tout their "true" way all the time, and I think "that's really just an insult to everyone of us who DON'T think their way."

But of course, its easier to be one of the "truth claimers", or at least join their camp by apologizing for them.  Those who claim the "one true way" are in fact using demeaning and derogatory language, and you know it.  Indeed, they name-call those that call out the abuse of the word "True".   But that fits with their previously established level of name calling, veiled threats and idiot discourse.

Just something to think about.

IMO true would only pertain to the Dom/Master of the sub/slave in question if her/his owner feel he/she is the perfect slave slaves /subs have no opinion of there own it is only in the masters  service that they should strive for perfection.... his/her eyes is what matters.....Sir kinkster

It seems to only offend when used in regards to one's submission or dominance, or lifestyle choice.

i can not help but notice the times people use it in posts for other references, and no one is offended...

i have no problem with the word, although i dare not attempt to define it. the reason that i dont cringe when i see it.... well, there ARE a bunch of fakes out there. that just makes the rest of us the true ones. i think people over anaylize the word when they should be applying it more often. to each slave it will mean something different, but all that matters is that you are true to yourself and your nature and i think that makes a true slave.

now the fakes? thats another thread - har har har

Exactly!!!..to add a wee bit to this however..although I do understand where "true" makes people want to grit their teeth..To me it is getting to the point that we NOW are so against the word "true"that it affects our abilities to see past that one little word and reflect upon the question, statement or viewpoint being made..now I am gritting my teeth when I see so many freak out about it...I do not mean this as a blast to the OP...this is just something I have seen crop up way to many times....Tempting
