It is just my personal question for others opinions. If it is your opinion that everyone who lives this lifestyle should go out and charge money for it you really should talk to a lawyer; the application for licensing from the state not to mention IRS documents is killer.

Thank you for your input on this matter.

Status: offline 		Some one very close to me smile charges 250 an hour with a 2 hour min, a cam sessions range from 150 for a 15 minute session to what ever the law will allow..A pro that knows their business can charge this amount..bounty

I think you should become a pro top if you can tangibly enumerate what you have to offer thats of value thats worth paying money for.  Like any other service you become a commodity and the better you can articulate your value, the better you'll do.  Best place to start is look at what you have to offer and also look at your competition.  I'd also look at the legalities because the minute you start taking pay for play in your home, the minute you open other the other people that live in your home up to legal risk.  And there aren't any states that I can think of where its literally legal to be a pro-top, so keep that in mind (whether the money is worth it).

Status: offline 		Yes as I have stated earlier this is not something I am jumping into also it is illegal to run a home based business with out the proper license. Though as long as the amount of income is less then a certain percent monthly it is still considered a hobby. Monday morning I am having my lawyer get me the actual amount. Should be around $300 monthly by a co-workers guess.  I have worked in this industry before and I assure you with my job I understand the concept of paperwork. Also it is legal to be a professional dom in every state, there is just no state that allows for prostitution.  Which is not what I am offering.  Alot of places end up shut down and in the news because they cross that line. I am happilly married, so no chance of that line getting crosssed. 

The meaning of this question is mainly based to just get some across the board input. Other then the legalities of such a feat, it doesn't seem to be any real negitive response in the way of actually doing it.  On monday I will let everyone know if I can even go through with the whole thing. My lawyer (he asked not to be named ;) and I will be sitting down and figuring out the actual ability to do this.

I would love to see the state license / application in MI (or any other for that matter! -state LESS Nevada-) I can see the health inspector checking dildos for cleanliness now- You can be married and arrested for solicitation. You can be gay, a male, married and arrested for solicitation.

As for your counsel on this business endeavor, by chance are they associated with Dewey Skruem and Howe?

that, to me, is like saying someone needs special qualifications in order to be a prostitute. there are some prostitutes who are better at certain sexual acts than others, and some can charge more than others, but i doubt anyone needs special qualification to be a prostitute.

above and beyond the normal learned skills of topping, as well as the ability to navigate the business/legal side of things, exactly what qualifications would you say a pro-dom/me needs?

People might not need a lot of skills to be a professional domina, but they need a pretty decent skillset to get repeat business.  I'm sure a lot of guys go see random femdoms who are really "hookers with whips" and think being a femdom means talking dirty and spanking.  But for a seasoned submissive, he will know whether or not she's got the mindset, the passion and the instincts to really get into his head and push his buttons.

You may personally believe that its not the same as prostitution, but according to the law and how most cops read the law pro-tops can be hauled in for prostitution (and its been done plenty of times, there's enough precedence for you to at least think about it).  And even if the charges are eventually dropped you'll have to pay for a lawyer (or pay your existing one more to defend you), bond, as well as deal with whatever sort of publicity comes out of getting arrested for prostitution.

Being married doesn't protect you from any of that and in fact puts anyone that lives there at risk.  And there is no special pro-topping license that you can get that will make it legal for you to operate a dungeon in your home where you charge people for (what the cops would consider) sexual acts.

I'm not trying to piss in your Wheaties but you seem a bit naive about the whole thing.  And if your lawyer is worth two cents, they will tell you pretty much what I told you (not all lawyers are good ones).

Status: offline 		I have never said it would be at my home.  I was just responding to someone else's response about home based businesses.  Thank you all very much for the input but I will be taking the advice of my lawyer and using full legal means. You can get a license to open a "fantasy center" that does not offer sex and yes there is prostitutions laws on the books here in Michigan, but it is the same license that you get to open a strip club (that does not offer sex in exchange for money, which sex in exchange for money is again illegal in Michigan under prostitution laws.)

Yes getting paid for sex is illegal.  No I did not say that beening married would keep me from being taken to Jail. Being Married means I will not have sex or sexual contact with any client.  Sex in exchange for money is prostitution. Prostitution is illegal.  If the cop asks you for sex in exchange for money and you say yes or even maybe or I'll get back to you. That is prostitution.

It is not illegal in Michigan to file for a business license to open an adult themed business. Such as sex shop, or naughty bookstore and as long as you are not offering *SEX* on the list of activities. You should be fine. But for anyone else interested in this please find a kink friendly lawyer.

Thank you agian for all the great input. I think I have enough information from those of us in this lifestyle to make my choices.

Status: offline 		Just for clarity, you do not need to be offering sex for money to be arrested for prostitution.  Plenty of pro-tops who have not offered sex for money have gotten arrested for prostitution.  Hell in the no infamous Paddleboro, the person throwing a bdsm party was arrested for operating a house of prostitution.

If you happen to disagree then I can simply say to each his own. If you think it is completely illegal then so be it. I am not here to change anyones mind. I was just getting an over all feel for peoples opinions.

Status: offline 		You cannot run this out of your home. You said you have a family, so what if a weird client decides to break in during the middle of the night? You can't run it in any residential zoned area since it is a business. And being an adult business, zoning will be strict as to where you can be located. Are you interested in being known publicly as someone who runs an adult business?

Have you considered the ramifications of that? Think this really won't affect your family? You really don't think your younger family members won't get tons of flack about what their mother does? And even though you don't think this is a sex business, all their friends' parents will. I am assuming you have sat them down and explained to them what you propose to do and answer all their questions including the personal ones about how their parents conduct their private relationship.
