I have had mead at Renaissance faires and with some friends who keep
a stash at home.  It is lovely and will get you tipsy in a hurry.

Do you make it at home, Ron?

Red wine should always be served with chocolate and pringles.

Great ideas, AngelDevil.
Or cheese.  Or dinner.  Or anything else.  Or by itself, if nothing else is available.

I like cab, or petite syrah, or South African reds like Pinotage -- cross of Pinot Noir and Cinsault (Hermitage) grapes.  It's smooth and good fruit like pinot; tannic and dry like a good cab; and has the earthiness and bite of rhone wine like hermitage, all at the same time.  And, inexpensive enough to drink a glass or 2 every night, if you want.

Ja, I am going to make birch mead this year.

So much sugar tho, it takes a long time to vint.

Good old Honey Mead (ambrosia, nectar of the gods) has some terrific alcohol potentials, and due to the sweet taste the hard edge of the alcohol is covered, so you can whack right quick.

I'm a white wine only lover - I like wines that taste spicy and fruity (like some Reislings and as of late some New England wines I've had).  I also tried a south african wine recently, Boekenhoutskloof Semillon, that was pretty good as well, tho not as spicy.

hehe, Mad Dog, brings back memories of my senior high school's class trip to D.C.  Some of the seniors could legally buy alcohol there.

Had some very tasty mead from Germany  a few weeks back....Mead is judged in the "beer" category sure it has to do with the fermentation...Planning to do a batch and store for at least 6 mos in champagne bottles....Usually just brew beer...Now producing some kick ass IPA's and stouts (big alcohol).

Wine....Big huge fucking reds....Even in Summer...You can shove those "buttery" chardonnays up your blow hole or drink them at some gay wedding....Me....BigWine....A handful of Bad ass bitches.....And one angry Domidong...And lets get this party started.

if i think about it domiguy, I can find a recipe that boosts the potential of mead alcohol by use of black tea------
I will see if I can find out where that thing is.

beekeepers will do it for about 1/2, or even less--- what it costs at the healtfood store, and hey, theirs is organic too, so you have that benefit as well.

LOL,
Ron

I know the word Rack sounds fun and exciting right now, but after you first batch of mead the word will lose the fun meaning.

I have bee hives if anyone wants to go out there and wrestle them for their honey........I am not going to.

As far as wine.........red and dry please. Right now I am on a Pinot Noir kick, but my fav's are usually italian, chilean, portugese, french.....almost always red.

I enjoy a good dry white but they are not as easy to find and to get something that doesn't taste like vinegar.....you really do have to spend some $$.

If a wine is even remotely sweet......no way.... bleck!!!!!

added because I don't know how it edit at this point:

A good South African Pinotage brand is called Warthog.  It'll put hair on your chest (or take it off, depending on whether it was there before).

GENERALLY speaking, European wines are named for Real Estate (Bordeaux and Champagne are places!)…and American wines are named for grape varities.

For that reason…your poll ‘might’ be redundant… European wines are generally blended varities, too; so Bordeaux IS:  Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and perhaps 4-5 other deep, dark red grapes.

Having been a beer brewer, I’ve also brewed a few meads; which are just fermented honey.  I included my organic raspberries and let it go long enough that the honey fell out and I was left with a rather dry, fizzy picnic wine…but deadly alcoholic!

Yup, it was good, too!
