(Yes, I do realise that the entire topic sentence is probably causing an English teacher somewhere to cry. But its okay. My engleesh don't hafta bee gud fer y'uns.)

*stretches quietly, thinking of her warm bed*

Focusing on the positive is much better then the negative. When we put ourselves in a negative mindset we're automatically creating bad energy around us.

So. I read constantly about the negative e-mail everybody and their brother receives on here. How about the postive gang?

Hell I'll start! Generally I receive the atypical compliments ("You're pretty. Enjoyed your profile.") but every so often I'll get a really great e-mail that makes me smile. You all probably have been victim to the smile. It's that one where your entire day just gets a little bit better due to a strangers kindness.

For instance someone complimented me on my tattoo in my alternate profile, and when I replied with a thank you & detailed description we had a nifty little chat. (Most of you have read my alternate intro, so you're a teensy bit familiar with its symbolism.)

So: let the good e-mails roll!

It's hard to admit to good things especially if they are evolving because one doesn't want to jinx oneself, yah know...  I don't believe it, but why tempt fate?
I agree we should try for more positive behavior/energy.   M

Good luck with this thread.
There is a reason we complain, to me its not negative energy.
For me, it is the truth about the men around here.
I will not lie to make a great thread.

I think alot of people complain because of frustration. Finding out your not alone in your thoughts validates them and makes people feel better.

I get ALOT of laughs from mssages i get on here. I know the majority are people who write are people in whom i am not the least bit interested, but polite comments make me smile and the truely idiotic ones make me laugh and give me chance to release my negative energy by mentally sparring with them for a bit....

*laughs* I would have to say just the opposite for me here.
For me, it is the truth about the women on here.
Out of about 25 well thought out and polite emails, I may get 1 genuine response.

I like the emails that say I look so happy in that bubble bath -- because I was happy and that was the point of my choosing that picture.

Sometimes it's said in a flirty way like "May I join you?" or "I love bubble baths".

The weird thing is that this often comes from folks who just want to talk or who identify as tops themselves so I think they make this comment merely to start off a friendly conversation.

Sometimes it continues, sometimes not.

I also, of course, like the notes that say they agree with something I posted or who have a question about a book I've mentioned. Again though this tends to be from people who want to talk or who want information.

Since I changed my profile to a series of questions I have gotten a few that simply say: "Yes to most but probably not the most important questions". I was hoping that the questions might inspire something like "I love watching b-grade movies too have you seen X?" and start a conversation off that way. Or ideally "I actually have a bachelor's in classics, ma'am, even though I haven't used it in a while I'm still interested in the ancient world. Did you see "Alexander" and if so what did you think?"

I have indeed had many a positive E-Mail here and on other sites.
I met and converse with many a sub or Dom just for the joy of sharing thoughts and theory.
I've also found lots of people who truly think about me, much as I think about them from this forum that occasionally I'll write to, or get a message from.
When you've gotten frustrated and decide not to write for a while it's a very positive thing to see others wonder where you went and miss your input.
I too have reached out and ask people I don't talk to directly much if things are OK if I haven't seen them post for a while.
I kind of look at this message board forum as an extended family of sorts.
There's so many intelligent, loving, caring people who participate in here regularly with their perspectives and wisdom.
When they disappear you worry and check on each other.
That's a good way we have to support one another for sure.

I think indeed there's many a troll & predator Dom or sub in here, but like all other aspects of life you have to take the good with the bad.
The good people I've met here I wouldn't trade for the world.
Some of the people I've conversed with here have even been my lifelines on my sanity at times.
I've been very blessed to have this site to communicate in & the people I've had the chance to communicate with over all.

There are a few gems hidden on these boards. One of them stores Code Red in my fridge :P

I keep my profile, just for nostalgia. If I meet some local pple , that is fine. A new person to coffee with is always welcome. If that does not happen, I willl still be happy.

Although I agree that focusing on the postive is better than the negative, I have to say that I don't often feel that there is all that much negativity.  There are always those few who are making most of the waves.  Most of the whines I see are from submissives complaining or pooh-poohing a discussion the FemDoms might be trying to have.  A good example would be the thread from some time back wherein we were asked to describe our perfect day.  The thread did not devolve, because we didn;t allow it to, but I was highly entetained by the fact that there were a few boys who had to throw some stones and be negative.  The FemDoms weren't!  And most of the time, I really don't think they are.  *Smile*
When threads are begun that do indicate a frustration, often with a sense of humor, I look at those as an opportunity for learning.  If the submissives/slaves were here reading, and I want to belive that some of them are even if they don't actively participate, this is an opportunity to open their minds and try for a new perspective.   I usually look at who is taking the discussion to a negative turn.  I have even seen comments from submissives accusing the FemDoms of a PollyAnna attitude!
And I am guilty of making a sharp comment and being more than blunt on occasion.  Somtimes it is called for.
I enjoy receiving nice compliments regarding My profile.  And appropriate compliments on My photos.  (Admittedly, many of the *compliments* on those are not appropriate!  i.e.  "you are gorgeous, I wanna lick you all day"... yada, yada, yada. )  And I have had some great correspondences with people from these boards.  Other than that, I don't dwell on it too much.  It is the lay of the land, and I either need to deal with it or remove Myself.  I have not chosen to do that yet.
Maybe I see things differently!  Am I blind?  Or am I just really tough in My old age?  *Smile*

Edited to add:  Please see post #6!  It arrived I was typing!  LOL
