Hello there, I read all the time about Dommes not wanting an auto response, or a cut and paste type intro letter. Totally understandable, very impersonal and lazy of the sub and makes the Domme feel like a number and nothing special to the sub. I understand that and never auto respond. Here is my question though, I have a feeling, sometimes Domme use an auto respond, or cut and paste a positive, but generic response to subs. I am not talking about the "Will repond later", or, "Not accepting new sub", etc. I am talking about message that while it is positive and thanks the sub for the response, and encourages them, it is pretty generic. Now hopefully you understand, I can not ask a Domme this straight out who sends me one of these messages, because if I am wrong, it blows my chances. It is pretty hard to stand out among the other subs and get a response in the first place...lol. So, just out of curiosity, do some Dommes do this? Btw can someone tell me what happend to the pics on my profile? Added one about 3 days ago and now all of them are gone, they are all vanilla. Can not find an actual Q&A section to ask CM what happend, only a FAQ page and it doesn;t discuss this.

If by auto-respond you mean that I may have a fairly stock response of phrases that I use to say thanks but no thanks, then yes. It always covers the reason, and, unforunately the reasons are pretty much the same. It is not a copy and past, and it is never something I have on file. Just in My head. I do type each response, individually, address each person individually, and point out, in some manner why I am not interested that has a direct relation to their 1. profile and 2. email introduction. Or, I just don't respond. As to Dominas not liking copy and paste intros, there is a big difference between reading an email from someone who has taken the time to make their style and personality come through, while still taking the time to address a profile on an invdividual basis and respect the wishes and/or requests that are included in that profile. We all have consistent ways we write, but that doesn't mean it can't be tailored to an individual which shows respect and a sincere interest in that person, and not just anyone who checked off Female and Dominant. Hope than answers that question. Welcome to the boards, and you should contact support if you are having problems with your pics. Edited to add: Sorry I got off on the auto respond thing without absorbing the "Interested" part. I am not sure how I would even "autorespond" to an email that actually interested Me! So the answer to that is "no".

I dont auto respond, but I will be fairly vague and generic until I get to know more about someone. That doesnt mean that I have cut and pasted a stock answer, that just means I am not ging to presume to kow anything about the person. I'l usualy ask generic questions and things like that to find out more before I even attempt to personalize. DV

I never cut&paste or anything like that. Then again, it doesn't take much effort to type "No." If I get an assinine question in an email as opposed to an introductory letter, this is usually my response. If I get a form letter and know it's a form letter, this is usually my response. Sometimes, I just won't even bother to respond if the email is particularly rude or focuses much too much on a 'sub's' wants and desires, especially if they don't take the time to try and learn about me by asking HONEST questions. What kind of movies I like as opposed to if I want to spank them. If I receive a letter that is well written, attentive and shows general interest in me not only as a Domina but as a person, I will usually respond in kind.

ok here goes - the first post. Its been intersting to read posts about auto responds or those that dont respond at all. I dont always respond but it doesnt mean I not interested. It could be I am busy, I am tired, could mean I not staying on for long and will do it later. I have sent messages to some subs and got back what is obviously an auto reply. No matter what someone will not be happy - if it auto response or if it not responding at all.[:D]

A simple short ice braker message is all I need or want to do to get the doors of communication open. I hate to type out a long personel message to get no response. Once the door is open then you can type till your hearts content. The only thing I cut and paste are web site links.

I never cut and paste anything - whether or not we feel there is the potential for a relationship. It would be rude and dismissive, not to mention incredibly hypocritical. I've been known to delete without responding, but if I do respond, it's always typed specifically for the person.

OK I will plead guilty to a degree. If I get an email that is 1) a form letter 2) glaringly obvious they haven't read my profile 3) trolling for wanking material I will use those little handy-dandy autoreplies such as involved (which I am so I am not lying) or thank you if the form letter was complimentary or I just delete and block. Now if the sub has sent a letter which shows he had at least skimmed my profile (and the who is viewing button confirms they have looked at my profile) I will take the time to tailor a polite thanks but no thanks answer. I feel the autoreply buttons are there for a reason and I prefer to not be rude....unless the email is totally nasty in which case I delete and block. I believe receiving some type of response is better than no response. Just my .02 worth.

No, I don't auto anything. I agree it is a lazy form of response to someone who took the time to write to me. I do respond to the first message that I receive from anyone (unless it was I who wrote to them first and their answer basically leaves nothing to respond to) just out of general courtesy. I think that is the least they deserve, even if the response is thank you, but no thank you. Of course, I don't exactly receive dozens of emails a day, so I can generally keep up with it if I check it once every day or two. Being a Domme doesn't excuse Me from having good manners.

Hi, You may think this is not a good way to do things, but ... if a sub sends me a note of introduction or responds in a positive way to a first note I sent him I will respond within a day, no matter how busy I am. I will try to answer any outright and direct questions. If he asks a vague sort of ... "what do you like to do?" question I confess to going into a word documant that I tool a long time to be vry careful writing and editing. I type fast in an off the cuff email and don't always catch typos and misspellings. So I do have a word document that I have edited and spell checked about me and my interests and likes and dislikes. Those things are not going to change about me just because someone different writes to me. I do not just cut a paste the entre letter and if the questions sent to me are specific ai answer them specifically. But in the beginning at least, I do use cut outs from my word document to make sure I am sending an intelligent and intelligable response. But no two people have ever recieved the exact same letter from me either. Don't know if that's considered cheating or what. MsOpal

I'm with You MsOpal. I have some previous responses that I have thought out thoroughly and saved, and I will cut and paste sections from them and then add more text to fine tune it to the sub in question. It just saves a lot of typing and means I can respond more rapidly to incoming mail. I also have a fairly standard set of initial questions (about location, smoking, drinking, sexual history etc) which I would want to ask everyone before becoming more involved and I cut and paste those too. However, because I personalise each one, no one gets exactly the same reply from Me. For Me that's a practical yet not impolite way of using the technology to advantage. I do agree that being Dominant does not exempt Me (or anyone else for that matter) from good manners! Maam Jay

I didn't realize there was an auto response, but I won't use it. I tend to send a generic response to people who I'm not interested in. With someone I am interested in, I respond to his letter, and the things he's said about himself in his narrative. If someone seems intelligent, but hasn't said a lot about himself, I'll send a positive but general response. That would be a situation in which my response might seem generic. MSS

Just for the record, by "auto respond" i meant had a message that you had saved and were inserting it into all your responses. Thanks for all the responses, mainly wondering if Dommes do this when THEY ARE interested. Some seem to think i am asking about responses to messages in general, or perhaps responses when they are not interested. I'm not too concerned about how a Domme responds when She is not interested, the Domme can skip the response or send an auto reply or say no, it all means the same thing. I was only curios as to how often this happens when a Domme IS interested in the sub. Thank you for the greeting Lorelei, hello right back atcha.

No matter what status someone is within this site, being polite is always a rule of thumb for me with answering emails. Rudeness is not acceptable by anyone.....

I've found a lot of Dommes use the cut and paste/auto pilot type response. It doesn't really bother me too much, as I know how many trolling letters these lovely ladies get. >>> The only times it bothers me really is if there is not an ounce of personalized content in their responses. It's one thing to say 'I got your letter and this, this and this was interesing to me >>>Insert cut and paste here' but most don't even offer up that much.

I don't normally contact dominants on the site, but I do get contacted by them from time to time. What completely fascinates me are the messages I get from women that contact me out of the blue with a very obvious cut and paste message. I mean, I constantly hear how they hate getting that from submissives, but that's how they actually try to make contact with a submissive? I tend to ignore most contacts and just go on with my normal day, but it often leaves one wondering. I guess they figure that because there are so many submissives that we'll all feel overly fortunate that someone contacted us, even in a really stupid way.
