Sanity,

It upsets you when I point out that you, many on the religious right, and Monkeyboy, all seem to have the same idea in mind about what to do about muslims?

What sticks in my mind when I hear them talk or read your posts is a complete lack of erudition about how to actually accomplish anything.  The rationale presented seems to be something composed by an Iraq war version of the Dilbert Mission Statement Generator.

Still no proof cited as to a US or allied policy of religious genocide I see.. Just more name calling.. Standard protocol

Fair enough, Sanity has never cast negative aspersions at a member of an infinitive, for example, muslims.

Wait.

Enjoy.

I'm not sure what you're expecting........you're hardly likely to get a signed certificate from the policy makers.

Is it genocide? You would have to be blinded by spin to refuse to believe that the direct and indirect killing of thousands...hundreds of thousands.....is not mass murder.

Is it religious....debatable.

You'll always be hard pushed to get proof of the motives of the establishment as a consequence of their ability to surpress information........just because something can't be proven doesn't make it an invalid discussion point. Besides, concepts, ideas and motives are interesting.

Your best bet is to explain why it is not genocide and not religious. Simply shouting "no proof" doesn't convince me you have an argument worth listening to.

Sanity -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 6:37:02 PM)

Point out where I ever called for genocide, as you claim.

In my experience, those who lack any sort of proof of their own are usually the most insistent that other people provide it.

The second most insistent are those who firmly believe that because think something, it must be true.

p.s. I may have those mixed up.

Sternhand4 -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 7:00:45 PM)

I had posted proof that the other side "Islamic terrorists" use religion as a basis for extermination of the west. This is unrefuted.
As for the US or its allies commiting genocide, I would again say show me some kind of proof... where we wipe out a people based on thier ethnicity, its not like we dont have the capability. In fact they only example of genocide that the US commited can be found here in the CONUS against the native americans. But that was a long time ago. and not relavent to present day.
We could have wiped out every living being in Iraq if we had a desire too.
But the point was to allow the people there to control thier destiny.
The biggest mistake was in the assumption ( which is the mother of all f@ck ups) that the Iraqi's would embrace democracy immediately, and throw off century's of ethnic warfare.

Sanity -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 7:12:37 PM)

To me, the only "spin" is the suggestion that those who literally die liberating and then protecting 25 million Iraqis are committing "genocide"

Those who are doing the killing aren't Americans.

Tell that to Abeer Qasim Hamza al-Janabi, her parents, and 5 year old sister.

Oh, you can't. Steven D. Green AND HIS UNIT raped and murdered them.

Sanity -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 7:40:51 PM)

That's dedication, farglebargle. Out of all the hundreds of thousands of allied soldiers in Iraq, you remain intensely focused on the very few who we cannot be proud of.

Are you aware of what's happening to these few soldiers, farglebargle?

They're being prosecuted.

Does that mean anything to you?

General Response ...

I think we need to remember, that the United States, the richest, most militarily advanced nation on the planet, doesn't seem to be able to control radical terror groups within our own country.

To hold other countries to a higher standard, seems a bit illogical.

Sanity -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 8:07:20 PM)

Some prosecute terrorists, others don't - they support them. Key difference, that.

One standard.

Strangely, no.

What SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED, if say, the military was worthy of respect, and had any honor, would be that his accomplices in the rape and murder, ESPECIALLY HIS Sergeant, should have shot him dead the moment he even suggested that shit.

But they didn't. They helped.

Everyone who blindly says, "Support Our Troops", also supports THESE troops.

We prosecute Terrorists? Explain Luis Posada Carriles.

I have to disagree. Lots of folks, including this one, go by middle names.

I don't think you can prove that the Iranian government, gives financial support to terorist organization.

Sorry, but right or wrong, I'm a stoic. If it can't be absolutely proven, it doesn't exist.

Gravity cannot be absolutely proven.

I can fly!

Sinergy

p.s. I am not suggesting that Iran supports terrorists.  Simply pointing out that for a hundred years people thought elephants had psychic power because they always ended up coming from miles away when one found a food source.  Then some clown recorded ultra-low frequency sound waves, and discovered elephants spend all their time chattering in them.  Being able to prove something and it not existing are two different things.

You're right, Sanity: Diplomacy is slow. But, as we're learning, military approaches to the Middle East can be slow too.

caitlyn -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 10:16:03 PM)

A theory can exist as a theory, because it can be proven to by theoretical. Gravity can be proven to be a theory. We know that some force must exist, and theorize that it's gravity.

At this point, we can theorize that we are completely jacking this thread. [:D]

Caitlyn, we're not the "richest" country anymore, not by a long shot.
Boy, I'll sleep good tonight knowing the "U.N."s on the job!

caitlyn -> RE: Security Council Approved Iran Sanctions (3/24/2007 10:38:10 PM)

Depends how you measure it.

Total GDP, the United States is significantly ahead. GDP per capita, I believe the U.S. is third'ish.

For the purpose of this discussion, I find total GDP more on point, since we are talking about total usable wealth.
