I like the mallability of feather pillows, but I absolutely hate their damn quills working their way out of the pillow and stabbing you in the neck or shoulders or any other place it works out. And feather pillows tend to"die" very quickly as all of their feathers make their way out of the pillow, it becomes very limp and lifeless in just a matter of months after buying.

So, are there any other pillow options that act like feather but have none of the complaints of feathers?

Try down pillows.

Try purchasing quality pillow covers with a very high density thread count for your feather pillows.  Used along with your regular pillow case, it will provide an additional barrier that the quills have to work their way through.  You could even add two covers or an additional pillow case.

down alternative is my personal fave. i buy all hypoallergenic down alternative, and love it. try overstock.com - they have an excellent selection of high-quality, cheap down and down-alternative bedding, as well as really high thread count sheets for very cheap. i got 1200 tc sheets, down alternative comforter, pillows, and featherbed, as well as a knife set and a throw blanket/throw pillow set for like $350. my only complaint is that the stuff tends to be bulkier than normal down, but this is really only an issue with the comforter.

Try a plant fiber called Kapok. It has almost identical characteristics to down and feather without the hassles.A bit more expensive but well worth the cost.

You'll probably find it at a bedding store that carries hypoallergenic linens. Or google kapok pillows, of course...
