markw1962 -> Munches and groups - Russia (3/26/2007 11:14:58 AM)

I lived in the US for a long time, and after that a few years in Western Europe.  Right now, I am living in Moscow (Russia).  In the US, there seems to be strong BDSM community, i.e., munches, groups, people hanging out together etc. - some public/professional venues, but many private/in-home events.  In Western Europe, I found public venues, but nothing private.  (I'm not talking about pro-Dommes here.)  In Moscow, at least so far, I have found ... nothing!

I have heard a few explanations, such as:
1.  In the US, BDSM/nudity/alcohol is a grey area, so public events are restricted.
2.  In Europe, the houses/apartments are small, so private events are out.  (Plus getting naked and drinking alcohol can be legal in public (adult-oriented) facilities such as bars.)
3.  Living in Moscow is a sado-masochistic experience - there is no need for clubs and parties.  (This is a joke, for anyone who doesn't get it.)

What do you all think?  (And if you know of Moscow-based groups/contacts, send them my way - quick!)
