Well, Ma'am, he was clearly called Brian when he was a working cop in NYC. But after retiring and being in near isolation in Alaska without anyone else to talk to for six months, he obviously completely forgot his own name. When Lars shows up with the party invite he had to think quickly on his feet and choose a name so that he would not look like a complete doofus to Lars. But what name to choose ? Taking the phrase, "Tom, Dick or Harry" he applied the "Paper, Stone, Scissors" decision process to it and voilà ... he was now Tom. sissy Hoped that cleared things up for You, Lady Desire.
