Getting involved with your local clubs is the best way. I have not been involved with any group that has not at some point held an auction. Most of the time it is to raise money for either the club itself (for equipment, party supplies, improvements, etc) or for a charitable event (ill club member, specific charitable organization, etc.). The terms of the auction can vary from scenes played out at the time of the auction or immediately following during a party to specific durations to be negotiated between the parties. Both dominants and submissives can be auctioned. Some dominants are auctioned to other dominants to learn a particular skill one onone. For example a dom who is skilled with flogging may offer 1 hour one on one training to whomever wins the bid. The submissive may offer complete service, play or leave it open for negotiation. Generally auctions are used to raise money and they are fun. However, they are also based in reality with pretty much the same restrictions and rules as any type of play that would go one including limits and negotiations. There is really no legally binding contract. If looking for the fantasy type auctions one sees in fem dom erotica, where slaves are sold to others for life, I have never personally been to one or know of any that exist in my neck of the woods.
