Swiss man jailed for Thai insult
A Swiss man has been jailed for 10 years after pleading guilty to charges of insulting the Thai king.
Oliver Jufer, 57, was arrested last December after drunkenly spray-painting posters of King Bhumibol Adulyadej in the northern city of Chiang Mai.

Hicks to serve nine months' jail Australian Guantanamo detainee David Hicks will be sent home to serve nine months in prison after being sentenced by a military judge at the facility.
Hicks, 31, was sentenced to seven years in jail after pleading guilty to supporting terrorism, but all but nine months of the sentence was suspended.

Big drop in French unemployment French unemployment fell to its lowest level in 24 years in February, government figures show.
The jobless rate dropped to 8.4% of the working population, down from 8.5% in January and 9.6% in February last year, the Labour Ministry said.

US rejects Iran captives exchange US officials have ruled out a deal to exchange 15 Royal Navy personnel captured in the Gulf for five Iranians seized by American forces in Iraq.
State department spokesman Sean McCormack rejected suggestions that a swap could be made.

New low-cost vaccine for Africa

For the first time, Europe's largest drugs company, GSK, is starting the registration process for a vaccine from which it never expects to make money.
Globorix will only be used in Africa to prevent meningitis at prices that may never cover its research costs.
