Dtesmoac -> Collapse of active membership in traditional public organised groups (4/1/2007 7:41:40 AM)

In the UK the level of involvement in public organsiations such as the scouts, churches, political parties is plummiting - interesting article attached. I don't agree with the conclusion that work hours are not an issue. With flexible work patterns the reocrded hours may not have risen but inability ti guarantee that you will be in any place at any time significantly effects active participation in organisaed groups. Collapse of political party membership seems to reflect current view that all politicians are bad. I don't get the sense in the US that there is a similar departure - but then I've not looked at it before. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/01/ncomm01.xml
