then you go back to your studies and reading these fourms, at that point your begin to understand what the "Word" Master really means to YOU   as you pour a cold beverage of your choice and you look into the mirror and you really get a good look at the Master...real close like, then you will have a Better idea of how to become a Master.
You will Never see Master nor Sir in front of my name, nor will you ever see pic's of my engorged member......

As i have asked the question's that i have mentioned...i have looked into that mirror and what i have seen, Will not be what you see.

The Respect that i some day wish to demand from My Sub will not be the same respect that you Demand.

as i have asked many Masters and have many different replies to the same question.

the real answer to "how do u become a master" is not answered by other masters, its answered buy the People in your life, who put Their Life in Your hands, they will give you the Name as Master/Sir  its not a name to flant or to be tossed about...its a Gift to those who have earned it from those who have felt your love and trust to call you by it.
For those of you that have earend the tital Master....i applaud you humblie.

Consensus leans towards "You don't ever get to call yourself Master, only other people can do that", which seems reasonable enough to me.

There are degrees of Dominance... and some people seem to equate that to levels in a game. Get to Master Level and you 'win' the game. Maybe it's the cyber influence?

First, you really must start capitalizing "I", or you'll never get your Master's Degree . And don't be afraid to add y and o to the letter u.

Status: offline 		For me it is a simple as this, you become a Master when a submissive views you as her Master and she as your slave. That act is the only thing that will grant you the "title," and it is only from that subs perspective. If my sub regards me as her Master, that does not mean I am a Master to other subs.

Of course your can become a master of D/s, just like you can become a master of snowboarding or ham radio. This simply means you have a sufficent skill set that demonstrates your abilities. All Doms should effort themselves toward become masters in that regard as well.

Status: offline 		The word master in your handle certainly doesn't make you one.Long years, lots of experience and the mastering of one self first and fore most is the key.IF you can't master your self then how are you to master others.A difficult question that has many complex answers and as always many people view the art of a master different and it is an art...bounty

Becoming a Master has everything to do with leadership, of your submissive and within the D/s community. Volunteer! Get involved! Be always loving and gracious, but strong and resolute. Smile.
Accomplished Masters are a rare breed. Have patience. In a little while you yourself will become the hunted.

Status: offline 		There's a kit.  Comes from ACME.  Includes EVERYTHING you need, even a blow-up slave, for you to get started with.  After watching the DVD, and taking the test at the end (you must have an internet connection), you'll be a registered "Master."  You'll get your certificate (suitable for framing) in the mail approx. 2-weeks later.  You can even but a picture ID from their website, if you want, but they're kind of expensive.  I lost the link, but, if I ever find it again I'll be sure and postback here

Sure, I could flog someone until they call me Master, but that is merely a Skinner box response which would thusly speak to an inability on my part to have the interests and development of the subject as My impetus. I have no "axe to grind." That said: when a suitable and workable piece of steel presents itself, it shall be tempered and hammered and honed to split what I swing it at.

For Me, when I dom it is to indulge in a specific dynamic. Being a Master encompasses life lessons and personal progression.

Status: offline 		"Master" is just a word.  Six letters.  You can claim you are her Master... you'll just have a very wild and untamed slave.  You can wait until she just starts calling you Master.  You could even blurt out "Call me Master!" in the same setting "Say my name!" or "Call me Daddy!" would work.  In the end, it's all on you and your pet.
 
I'm from the school of thought that there's no wrong* way to live a BDSM lifestyle.  Whatever works.  Some people use it as a kink thing and others live a very complete 24/7 lifestyle around it.  The original post regarded "Master" almost as a rank to be earned.  That's the wrong way of looking at it.  Enjoy the journey, the destination is nothing.
 
* = Unsafe BDSM practices are "wrong" in my book.  You don't recklessly mix fireplay and wooden cages unless your sub is Houdini.  Water play and electrical play are another great waste of slave.

To be a master you only need a slave that recognizes you as her master. that's the only condition needed.
To be a good master...that's diferent. I'm not sure if anybody can answer that question but reading, talking with more experienced masters and practice are things that sure help.
you don't need any other name than whatever you want to be called and as others have said titles and prefixes means very little or nothing. you won't be any better or worse by writting a few letters in front of your name.
