I'm kinda wondering how the world percieves us (the US).

And since I know this post will indoctrinate a few to explain to me why our attempts in Iraq are fucked up (or fabulous), I'm not looking for those that have an agenda (there's a few of you out there who might aspire to a particular train of thought)...I'm looking for the facts.

I'd like to know specifically...where do you get your news...do you trust it, why (do you trust it)....and do you feel your news is more accurate today (than at some other time)?

I get a lot of my news from various local rags, Rolling Stone, National Weekly, US News and World Distort, LA and NY Times, a bunch of internet searches.  Most of this stuff I read at work.

But I am generally more interested in a less reactionary approach to learning news from news media.  So I read lots and lots of books.

Then I go out and research (using google, et al) a lot of the things I read to learn different aspects / viewpoints about it than I get from the place I am reading that news.

For books I am a bibliography hound, and after I discovered I can buy great books used for $2.00 at Amazon, I have a lot of books on order.  I dont really care about the quality since the working (well, sitting around reading while expressing my morpheme) on the docks tends to destroy things.

Hope that helps.

I don't feel news today is more accurate, but you certainly can get a lot more perspectives and soundbites.  Back when I was a youngin ;) I had to rely on the Posts international news section and a few half hours on PBS for anything outside the local/national scene.  Now I can get pretty much anything on anywhere at anytime.

As always, the only way to really know about an issue is to research it thoroughly, over time, as well as the intermingling issues.  Since I don't want to be depressed, I'm ok with skimming over the basic headlines and soundbites for most things.
