I know there've been a few postings about BDSM and scene music, but I wanted to ask how many of you have made music a key part of scene activities.

My current sub and I have put a lot of effort into building a music backdrop. I work to different tunes in a structured way. For example, we start with Bolero. For those of you who know it, this is a powerful piece of music that builds to a huge intensity. It becomes quite manic. The deal is that we start the activities when the song stops.

We move through different genrres of music as the activity changes. Spanking is set against gregorian chants. More intense stuff happens when Star Wars "Duel of the fates" is on. And so on. I sometimes feel like a DJ, but the effect is amazing. Great classical pieces like Night on a Bare Mountain through to the soundtrack of Gladiator.

So does anyone go this far with their music?

I HAVE!! Bolero is awesome for a nice slow building effect.
I've also incorperated music from Enigma and others into
scene play.  It's awesome to have a selection of premade
mixes or CDs at your disposal during scene play.  Actually
I enjoy incorperating Music very much so, You're NOT
the only ONE with a Music Fetish.  It helps connect to the
Largest Sex organ (the brain).

Cool thread! i have only scened once with background music and while it was soothing during respite it was not what i fantasize about . i have quite a list in my head of songs, both with lyrics and instrumental that i think would be awesome...just never been with anyone that didn't prefer my tortured cries to be unaccompanied! LOL! But i wish.....

Not really.  Sometimes we'll use music as part of the scene- to tap along with or use good songs that change tempo suddenly to cause a bigger reaction, and there are a few songs that just evoke particular types of scenes that I'd want to enjoy together.

But generally, music isn't a part of my scenes.

We don't incorporate music but every time I hear Symphonie Fantastique I think of all the passionate layers we experience together.  That would probably be my music of choice.

Music is a good mood setter for me and those i play with. We tend to move towards Enigma the most but the mixes i have made as well as other i know are great. at the monthly parties i go to there is always music going on. each Dom has there own that they like...so it is important to us.

If I'm doing spiritual work, I tend towards native american, new age and whatnot. If I'm playing for enjoyment, I tend to want Metal/Goth.

I get intense in my concentration when Im doing something. Some types of music can break the mood.

LOL I've thought to scene to classical music would be a very powerful experience for me.
I've posted threads here about this very thing to see who was into this type of sceneing to classical music.
What I find is there's no Dom I played with into using music like this and the Crucible in DC was afraid it would put everyone to sleep or out of the mood.
I have yet to experience this though I think it will be a wonderful thing for me to help me just relax and let go.
Oh well one day,....maybe....[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m12.gif[/image]. LOL at least it's something to look forward to possibly doing one day.

Thanks for the feebback. I have to say that the music is an impressive addition for the two of us. I live on a busy street with lots of external noise, so it's crucial, particularly if there are long gaps between activities. It's also a powerful tension-builer. Imagine having to listen blindfolded to O Fortuna from The Omen or even some of the soundtrack to What Lies Beneath or Hanibal, while waiting for your fate.
