Tried asking something similar in another forum. Perhaps I’ll have better luck here.

Don’t know if anyone here has explored caging a man as a way to extract total surrender. If you have, perhaps you can help us figure out how to realized this mutual desire.

We are both interested in the psychological effects it would have on each of us if she were to cage me.

Those nice cages with iron bars seduce with their imperviousness. But they are so expensive. Possibly one could be bought but it’d mean sacrificing something else. Maybe more usable, even important.

Trying to look past the ineluctable bonds of iron bars I’ve looked at pet cages. I can ignore that I could rip apart or smash many of them: in our play it is really my desire to please that keeps me in check. Now that they don’t have proper bottoms bothers me more: sort of kills the game.

More importantly they are often just a tiny bit too short for a tall guy like me. Thrilling as the photos of men bent over in cages can be I still have to get up and go to work and it wouldn’t take long before rounding my back in a cage would screw it up too much for me to function. Surprisingly it has proven large bird cages that seem to offer the most vertical space. But not enough ingress, exgress room.

I’m sure many of you have considerable DIY gifts. I’ll flatter myself and call mine merely minimal. But I’ve wondered …

Maybe even I could combine 4x4s and 2x4s in a workable fashion.

Or find some fencing or grillwork that could be cobbled together in a tolerable way. Bannister rails?

Wooden frame with chain link fencing locked into place with a good staple gun?

Is there some large open crating I could buy and put a hinged opening on the end of?

Thanks,
Richard

I have no idea if these are cheaper than what you've priced, but these might be worth a look. you also didn't mention just HOW tall...these are 6'. But, do you need a roof?

You're not alone in wanting (or at least thinking i want) something like this...it would seem an ideal way for an owner to truly take and make a person into exactly the slave they wanted...for that to happen, though, the slave would likely have to be totally broken...well...some things sound better in theory...but it would be interesting to find out how someone would do a total slave makeover in this fashion.

Obviously i'm thinking more along the lines of isolation and imprisonment...but i think it might be hot...i wonder if there are any dommes out there who have a similar thought on this general idea...i know i'd love to hear them!!

as always, your mileage may vary.

Hi Richard,

I enjoy the idea of caging with subs, but haven't yet done that with anyone. It sounds like you will have to create something for yourself that will meet the qualifications that you need for size because of your height. I would also make a friendly suggestion to relax your "psychological needs" for a cage that will provide the fantasy image in your head of what a cage has to be like to keep you locked up.

Perhaps you both can focus on other ways to enhance your "total surrender" experience with a cage that may not be exactly like you have in your head. I think we can sometimes be limiting to ourselves when we have something in our mind and can think of every reason why something won't work, just because we feel it has to be a certain way to be "real".

Be well,
Julie

You might try building the cage yourself if you have the means. Check my profile and you'll see a photo of the cage I built. I held nothing back in design and materials. The result was a project that took about two months (working nights and weekends) at a cost of materials around $600. I also had to buy a couple power tools but I don't include that in the actual cost of the cage. I enjoyed building it as I was able to include features to my own specifications. Unfortunately, I haven't really used it since I'm not involved with anyone and like 99% of all submissive males, finding a partner is astronomically impossible. Even so, I acquired some basic knowledge in building BDSM furniture and feel confident I could make just about anything.

That's a very nice looking cage, but why did it cost so much for the materials? Did you use an exotic wood for the frame?

anthrosub -> RE: Male Caging (4/29/2005 7:53:58 PM)

The wood was by far the largest portion of the cost. I used "clear" (meaning no knots) douglas fir. Next was the steel bars (1/2" dia. mild steel). The wood and bars accounted for about 70% of the cost. Add to that the hardware, 6 locks keyed alike, and stain and urethane and there you have it.

By the way, the cage can be positioned on end to convert into a "crouching cage" (LOL...crouching cage, kneeling sub. Sounds like a movie title.) and I made a removeable floor for when it's used in this configuration.

I've seen that picture on your profile, and it's a really nice looking cage.

It would have taken me $600 to build it for sure! In medical bills! I'm a klutz with tools. [sm=lol.gif]

You're a genius, anthrosub. I'd love one of those, course I wouldn't spring for the high end wood.

DrkAngl -> Making your own toys- bubble cage? (5/4/2005 6:21:19 AM)

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but here's a thought just the same. I find that PVC pipe is very inexpensive and can be made into anything. And depending on the thickness, it can be rather durable.

Now, if you wanted to have your cage metal, then there are always metal pipes. I also find that most major hardware stores, such as LOWES, will gladly cut the PVC pipe free of charge, wood also. Not sure about the metal ones though.

When I was teaching preschool one teacher made a most unique thing for the children to play in. It's mere clear plastic, the high grade kind you find at hardware stores for projects. She took duct tape and made a small tunnel, which then attached to a small fan. The fan was for blowing up the structure. Then she duct taped the plastic to form a rather large buggle like thing and then duct taped that to the small tunnel. A few cuts were made in the front to allow people in and out. This might have some interesting uses. :)
