Hello, everyone.

My username, as you can see, is Aswad, and I am the dominant of another user here, Nephandi. I've previously registered myself as the Black Man, which is an obscure reference to a RPG character, but lost access to that mail account.

I work in IT, primarily as a consultant, specializing in systems architecture and security. In part due to this, I am very careful about the personal details I give out on boards, especially one dealing in such a sensitive topic; this is not because I don't want to get to know you guys, so feel free to PM me if you'd like to ask something more personal.

Apart from that, I have close to a professional level of expertise in psychiatry, specifically confined to the subfields of cognitive behavioural therapy and the pharmacological treatment of anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, autism-spectrum disorders and adult attention deficit disorder. I'm not generally a fan of mixing this with BDSM, as it requires a lot of skill and experience to do both jobs properly at the same time.

Both of these are pretty boring topics if you're not either working with it, or (wrt the psych) suffering from it, so I'll skip the rest of the details; again, PM if you're curious.

I also practice the Martial Arts with a passion, which has had some useful applications in BDSM, especially with regards to physical restraint.

My writing tends to be somewhat long-winded or, more generously, meticulous, and I usually write in a fairly formal, perhaps pedantic, manner. If I should come across as condescending, please realize that this is not intentional.

As far as personality is concerned, I'm quite open, frankly honest and friendly. For those who subscribe to such things, my personality has been classified as INTP in the MBTI system, and I have internalized a morally relativistic version of the sixth stage of Kohlberg's stages moral development. I would like to think I'm a rational person, and usually have a structured approach to discussion and problem solving.

With regards to BDSM, I am a straight, flexible dominant with a wide range of interests. I have a strong sadistic streak, but the D/s dynamic, as well as conditioning and humiliation, are my main interests. Disobedience is not play as far as I'm concerned. I'd like to get to know other individuals or couples in Bergen, Norway for friendship and/or play, and would particularly like to befriend other couples that have an interest in sharing, public play and slavery as a social role. If you have a partner, I require disclosure and consent from this person, in the interest of honesty and fidelity.

Favourite writers of non-fiction include Noam Chomsky, Bruce Schneier, Paul Graham and Lt. Col. Dave Grossman. For those of us in the BDSM world, I would particularly like to recommend "What you can't say" by Paul Graham, and will be posting something regarding Grossman's text "On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs" in relation to BDSM at some point in the near future.

For fiction, my favourites are Tad Williams (esp. Memory, Sorrow and Thorn), Frank Herbert (esp. The Dosadi Experiment and Dune), Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind (and not just for the Mord'Sith ).

Musical preferences are varied, with a sample selection including Rachmaninov, Leonard Cohen, The Cure, VNV Nation, Type O Negative, Annie Lennox, Dimmu Borgir, Barbara Streisand, Assemblage 23, Midnight Choir, Madrugada and Dead Can Dance.

Anyway, that's more than a few things about me. See you around.

Sincerely,
Aswad
