DesertRat -> Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/16/2005 6:07:34 PM)

At the risk of being called a sappy sentimentalist, I just want to say how cool it is to get emails on the collarme system that say things like "Congratulations!"; "Blessings on You and yours"; "so happy for you"; and other supportive things. The messages are unsolicited. They just come. They make me smile, and when I share them with my slave, she smiles too. I think it's good to spread positive energy around like that.

That's all I wanted to say. Nothing profound. Better go before I get all kvetchy, or something. *his stern face softens just a little*

Anybody else care to share on this?

Bob

I have to agree with you, I love it when I get those types of emails. When a total stranger takes the time to read through my profile and make a positive comment....Wow! Or when someone says something nice about a post I make. Little words can sometimes make all the difference in a person's mindset. I know that I am quite pleasantly surprised when I log in to find kind or complimentary words. It takes a long time for the smile to fade when such things comes so entirely unsolicited.

FuriousAngel -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/17/2005 12:42:19 AM)

Yes! I have been pleasantly surprised to find many well wishes and compliments waiting to be read when I visit collarme. It not only brightens my day, but is encouraging to me that I'm on the right path. (Not that I need encouragment, but it's always nice to run into).

The one that stands out most in my mind, wasn't so much what was said, but the timing. It was this past week. One day I arrived to find a condenscending e-mail from a Domme instructing me I had no business being on this site. I noticed it, but as always didn't allow it to rent space in my head.

Yet, a mere 24 hours later I arrive to find an e-mail from another Domme that was kind, supportive and encouraging. She wasn't the first to display such a random act of kindness. However, the timing of the act sure warmed my heart a little more than if I'd not received the previous message from another.

So to add to your statements about the postive e-mails? I'd also like to add that when a person takes it upon themself to do such a thing? Well....you just never know when your words might have a brighter impact than you expected; not to mention make them feel welcome when another did the opposite.

I too have had the pleasant experience of a complimentary e-mail, and comment on a post. And, I always do my best to compliment others whether they make a good point, or touch my heart. BTW, Erin, I think you're kinda neet too! I've always enjoyed reading your views! Nothing sappy about you DesertRat either!

I've been very pleasantly surprised to get a number of very nice, friendly emails from people who have either seen my profile or read my posts here. Its very encouraging to know that there are some really nice people on this site.

Masterspetal -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/17/2005 4:52:52 AM)

Another great reason to be here [:)] It is always nice to hear words of kindness or support! Great place, great people!

This is so true.... especially of late for me. I've been having a hard time in real life right now, and the emails you log into make such a difference. Some of the back and forth on this site will make me smile, and when you haven't been able to smile all day, thats a really big thing. But likewise, you do get the crappy emails too, and what people don't realise is that if you are feeling fragile or whatever, that can totally crush you.

I wish more people would think about what the impat of their words may have on the person behind the screen before they hit that "send" button.

awwwww thanks! Now if I could just get everyone else to feel that way....lol. This is a great example though of how unsolicited words can really make a person's day. Thank you.

dombill32 -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/17/2005 9:19:37 PM)

I think that this lifestyle can be so hard on some people at times, espicially when they are going through a hard spell or they are alone. Sending someone a quick note of encouragement is not sappy, its just letting other people know that there are people out there who think like them and understand what they are going through.

It's amazing how a few kind words or a compliment can really make your day!! I feel that way when I have received the friendly or complimentary emails also.

And thank you for the reminder of something so positive, DesertRat, and I'll remember to return the favor more often when I see a good profile or post that moves me.

Be well,

harmony

I've received certain emails from people who thank me for my contributions to the boards. I'm very sure that is not a consensus ;)

Also, I get about an email a week with compliments on my profile, often times from other Dommes. That feels good.

I agree it does bring a smile to one's face.

siamsa24 -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 6:01:23 AM)

Over the last week or so supportive emails have been pouring in. Instead of dreading it when I see the red "New Message" alert, I smile and I hope that it's one of the several people that I have started a friendly exchange with.

caitlyn -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 6:35:27 AM)

Does someone asking you to send them a pair of your panties ... count as a supportive email? [:D]

siamsa24 -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 6:47:12 AM)

I wouldn't count it as a supportive email, although it does always make me laugh when I get a request like that [:D]

liljoy -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 7:14:51 AM)

srahfox -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 12:07:22 PM)

Aww.. that's so sweet. It's nice to read here that some people have been brightened by unasked for positive emails. I've send a lot of them out myself. If I find something I really like in someone's profile, I let them know. (The ones I don't like I just move along) I've not gotten any myself but I'm listed as a couple so I don't get as many people cruising my profile. (Which is okay, we aren't exactly looking) I try to live my life thinking about how what I do effects others. (I'm not looking for praise, it's just true.) It's good to know that sometimes that might make a differance.

FuriousAngel -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 2:42:56 PM)

On the flip side, not only has my world been brightened by those who send encourgement to me? I have also taken it upon myself to send notes to people which resulted in friendly exchanges, and extended support in the lifestyle.

Thanks lil_joy! I don't intend to let anyone sway me from being here or anywhere else I choose to mingle in this lifestyle. Those telling me I 'shouldn't be on this site if I'm not looking' make about as much sense someone telling me I shouldn't wear lipstick in public if I am not seeking a partner!

Solitarius -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 5:35:03 PM)

I am the type that would send a positive email rather than a negative one. I might include some things I see as negative but offer suggestions to improve thier profile or situation, unless the person has really PO'ed me. ( and that takes a lot) I have ended up making friendships with a lot of people that way!

Some forget we are here to help each other out, not to berate and bash each other. I think that anyone who is curious about the lifestyle ought to come to places like this and learn. Everyone has a right to be here as long as they want to learn and help.

The only way we can become stronger as a family is to learn from each other and to support each other through thick and thin.

Solitarius -> RE: Supportive Emails: Very Cool!! (4/19/2005 5:37:10 PM)

Oh and a P.S. I do love reading the postings of many of you!
