"LONDON, England (CNN) -- The 15 British military personnel captured by Iranian forces in the Persian Gulf were subjected to "psychological pressure" and kept in isolation during their detention, the group's officers said on Friday.

Lt. Felix Carman of the British Royal Navy, addressing a news conference at a military base in Chivenor, southwestern England, said the sailors and marines were 1.7 nautical miles from Iranian waters when the incident occurred -- despite previous statements to the contrary while in Iranian custody."

Status: offline 		I'm STUNNED - Stunned I say! I'm sure the Parliament of Iran will take up this investigation in a similar manner as Gitmo! The reputation of Iran is at stake! This could change the entire make up of the government at the next election. Just wait until the minority party in opposition acts on this it could change the entire make up of the government. Heads will roll...
...literally!

them for propaganda purposes.  
 
Thankfully, the sailors are now back home.

Status: offline 		It's STILL funny to hear people whining and crying about the inhumane 'treatment' of known terrorists at gitmo. I'd like anyone who wants to complain about gitmo to go and get arrested some of those detainees' home country and see how they treat their OWN criminals. Or how they treat foreigners for that matter. Sheeesh compared to that (beheading) I'd take gitmo in a second.

To me, you are missing the point many people are making. It's not about whining and crying about inhumane treatment, as much as it is lowering ourselves to that level.
 
In the Second World War, both the United States and Great Britain, allows inspectors from Geneva to visit any P.O.W. camp, unannounced, and without notice. This at a time when we knew what was happening to our prisoners, in Europe and Asia. We were justified to be to be upset at the treatment our men. We have no justification now. We threw it away, which was very foolish.

The fact that "Other People treat you worse" makes is neither Lawful nor Morally Correct.

Status: offline 		How dare they torture our guys by seperating them ? They should have let them have a pajama party, like we do to for foreign soldiers who infiltrate our territory.

Like a gang, the first thing the cops do is seperate them. Their hands were bound. Did they say for how long, I MISSED THAT. What, we talking the whole time, I missed that too. Any prisoner will be handcuffed at times, on the way to and from court.

I got a friggin DUI and got isolated, they took my cellphone and everything ! Well, really there wasn't much to spend money on there.

They are whining because they got treated like criminals, and as far as Iran is concerned they are. Being pardoned, well, they even said on TV they admitted doing nothing wrong, yet they confessed to simply being there. Whoa unto you if I have anything illegal on me in the US and you are in the same car. All I have to do is drop it and can get everybody in hot water. So we are so fair that we need to guide the Iranians to a better truth, a better light, the light of the fucking TV set. And not Al Jazeera either, gonna blow up the rest of them you know, but these things take time.

Can't have anyone getting the word out, unless it is our word.

Got it, get it ? Good.

Precisely. During all the debates about POWs vs. enemy combatants, we lost sight of the point. The key thing isn't what sort of people the detainees are. It's what sort of people we are.

Have you researched the long term effects of the methods of torture used at Gitmo?  Some of these people have been subjected to this for 6 years.

Odds are fairly small that they will ever recover from it even if they get psychological help.

This is the primary reason (methods of torture being perfected) that the former "name, rank, and serial number" is no longer the only information one can give under torture.

Status: offline 		I am not convinced that the UK ex detainees are telling the truth about the treatment they received.

Guantanamo is a propaganda gift for the enemies of the US..... and seekers after truth like me lol

If anyone blindfolded and tied me up I'd tell them anything and I bet they still wouldnt take the blindfold/shackles off.
Some on this site might ask for more !
