Has your interest in D/s affected your religion, religous practices, or religous beliefs in any way shape or from?

Yes.  I now believe there is a God.  And I know where he lives.  ;)

In a purely objective frame of reference, there can be no doubt about the existence and involvement of an all powerful God, creator of the universe. Where questions about His existence come in are when our human nature, which is often irrational and subjective, try to reconcile this reality with our own temporary desires. It becomes difficult to acknowledge God when doing so is counter to enjoying whatever it is that we want to try to enjoy. This seeming conflict of interests creates questions and allows wiggle room, and that is why we do it. As we persist, wiggle room grows to run and play and complete denial.

Yes, God does exist in my world. Am having a tendency to believe that God just might be a Female. If not then it is a strong possibility that God made them more intelligent, more compassionate, and a great deal more sensitive to Their surroundings than the male species. Thank You God which ever gender You may be!!!!!

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 8:46:56 AM)

grew up Catholic however raised as a Baptist. i'm not a member to a church or deeply rooted in my Christian belief like my parents and other relatives because i know how they would view BDSM. not trying to turn this into a religious debate but i find interesting that the Bible does teach about slaves submitting to their Masters, wives submitting to their husbands and they (especially the Southern Baptists, C.O.G.I.C., etc) see this as a sin. i have permission to remove my collar when attending services yet i don't. i suppose it's like thumping my nose at God as to say i'm not ashamed of being who i am.

SlaveBlutarsky -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 9:10:54 AM)

I don't believe in god, nor am I relgiious (obviously).

CdnExplorer -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 9:24:51 AM)

I started to lose interest in religion pretty young, and discovered during university that I was actually agnostic. Now over the years since then I've come to realize that since organized religion has no appeal to me, and so many religions out there claim to have the one true god, that if a god exists it will forever be completely unknown to us. Since such a god does not appear to be a personal one (involved in our day to day life) it just isn't important to me.

Essentially when I have believed in god it was a form of deism, the watchmaker idea. Now while I don't utterly dismiss the possibility that god exists I find myself becoming an athiest. No impact on my bdsm desires or anything really.

Do you practice any form of religion, and if so what?

No.  As many others here - raised Catholic, lost the faith when priests tried to "speak in tounges" in the late 70's.

D/s hasn't affected my religious beliefs.

I too, believe that structured religion is in it for the money (at the top - the pope and his henchmen for the Catholic church, etc.).  All the misguided followers only believe in them because the followers are too stupid or too scared to believe in themselves.

aidan -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 10:15:43 AM)

Recovering Catholic here. Left as soon as the Confirmation year of CCD came around.

I used to be a pretty faithful person, actually. A diehard soldier for Holy Mother Church. Eventually I just couldn't reconcile the contradictions between what the dogma and faith dictated and what was grossly apperant in the world around me. I now consider myself something of an existentialist.

I don't think there's a god, but I'm not wholly opposed to the idea. I just don't see compelling evidence for one.

Lashra -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 10:44:49 AM)

I believe in the Earth Mother, at least that is what I call her. I feel that there is "something" out there but what it is exactly I have no idea. I do not believe in organized religions, they are only used for controlling people and money. It has no effect on my D/s relationship as he feels the same way.

i believe in God the Father, Holy Spirit and Christ...  i refuse to be with anyone who does not

Samwhiplash -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 11:13:56 AM)

I dont believe in any god.... I have no religion... in fact I would describe myelf as being anti religion. And I couldnt get with someone who was religious. I cant understand how such a large percentage of society believe god kinda styff and it makes me question the sanity of people who do (sorry... trying not to be offensive but thats just the way it is).

While many churchgoers do not practice the wife's submission, and also oppose other things which are Biblical, the fact is that these people are mistaken and usually ignorant about what the Bible says on these matters.

The wife should definitely be submissive, and the husband responsible for her. See the following Bible verses:
Genesis 2:18-20; purpose of woman’s formation and existence as helper to man
Genesis 3:16 man guilty for listening to the woman, man to rule over woman
1 Corinthians Chapter 11: 2-10 man is head of the woman and the woman was created for man
1 Corinthians Chapter 14: 33-38 woman silent in church, not allowed to speak, any questions she has, ask her husband at home
2 Corinthians 11:3 Eve was the one deceived
1 Timothy Chapter 2: 11-15 woman to learn in quietness and submission, woman not to have authority over a man
1 Timothy 3:5 man manage his house, also in 1 Timothy 3:12
1 Timothy 4:13-14 don’t be busy gossips
Ephesians Chapter 5: 22-24 wives should submit in everything
Titus 2:3-5 teaching wives to be subject to their husbands
1 Peter 3:5,6 wives call their husbands Master
Colossians Chapter 3:17, 18 wives submit to your husbands
Numbers Chapter 30: 8-16 husband confirms or disallows any vow made by the woman and husband assumes guilt for the woman in certain cases

So, in the face of all this, why does the church condemn some things it shouldn't, and not practice other things that it should? The answer is in
1 John 4:5 They speak from a worldly point of view
If many Christians say and practice things which are not consistent with the Bible, does that make the Bible wrong? Of course not. It only means that we have our imperfect human natures to contend with and that too many people, acting in that human nature, listen to worldly social norms more than they should.

Really? Why's that then?

Hanable -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 12:55:53 PM)

i dont know if i would say A god exists in my world. i do go to church but it is only becuz my mother makes me. if i had the choice i wouldnt. i dont care what (if any) religion my pet/slave/sub is as long as we dont fight about it. sure conversations about religion is good but fights r not. forcing a religion on ppl is stupid. i dont see the point to making someone be a religion. thats my opinion.

No i don't believe in God, i believe in nature as the one true ruler.

SDFemDom4cuck -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 1:05:03 PM)

For years I've considered myself a very definite agnostic. Over the years I've studied different theologies and have incorporated different beliefs into my own life. I believe in Karma, the ideology of putting out into the universe what you want in return, and in treating others with the respect and humanism (for want of a better word) that I expect to be treated with in return.

Do I believe in a Creator? In an all knowing entity that controls all things?? No. I don't, but I respect that there are others that do and their right to do so.

Do I believe in organized religion as a whole and participate within the parameters on said organized religions? No, I don't.

Do I believe in treating my fellow human as I wish to be treated in return? Absolutely.

Does my lifestyle affect these beliefs or non beliefs? Not in any way.

sleazybutterfly -> RE: Does God exist in your world? (4/7/2007 1:10:50 PM)

I very much believe in God.  I admit I have tried out different faiths/religions, but I always come back to my Christian faith.  I know there are bad things in the world, but with my faith, I have the strength to cope with them a lot better.  There is hope, there is love, and there is forgiving.  I can't imagine my life without it, even though I have been in the dark many times.  It was miserable and something I pray I won't have again.
