I've had the urge lately to sit down and watch Brazil for about the umpteenth time. That movie is so dense with little glimpses of what life is like in that horrid society, I catch something new every time. Any other fans of the Dystopian genre? Stallone's Demolition Man is another I like. Everything seems so nice and peaceful in the progressive paradise they have built after the "Big One" until you discover that those who don't want to play perfect citizen aren't allowed to eat. I had high hopes when I heard they were making a film of The Running Man, but that nightmare vision (that seems all too possible sometimes) was just turned into a stupid comic book. The ending probably couldn't be done now anyway. Has there ever been a film adaptation of Animal Farm?

Has there ever been a film adaptation of Animal Farm? whats really scary is how they take these films that are really protesting the governments and slant them into something good for the kids. look at the NWO in wold woide wrestling! and on and on... it is a propaganda war that is sooo huge its unreal. if you tell kids coming into 18 years old + that the nwo are the bad guys trying to take over the world they are in shock. try it sometime as any young kid what the matrix is about or nwo in the wwe or wwf whatever it is now and watch the answers you get! The average kid is stoopified and totally clueless and those are the emotional knee jerk voters of the future. we are being systematically flushed down the tubes.

It sticks in my mind that there was a film adaptation of it, TheHeretic, but I actually think it was done with humans instead of animals. I have a long list of lovely Utopian and Dystopian works from when I took a course on the literature and practice of establishing a utopia. Want to read about the horror of all-tree-hugging, granola eating, all the time, try Ecotopia. Sinergy p.s. I love the movie Brazil.

Animal Farm for tv movie dystopian films i usually prefer to pick up a book. if you're so inclined, you might check out dystopian books. The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is a personal favorite.

"1984" has already been made into a movie. The most recent dystopian movie was last year's "V for Vendetta." Hollywood is supposed to be making a remake for Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451" within a few years.

Thanks for the links. I can't say I ever thought of Robocop as dystopian, though the dark humor was fun (and the guy who gets turned into a human water balloon by toxic waste is still gross 20 years later).
