ORIGINAL: TheHeretic I've had the urge lately to sit down and watch Brazil for about the umpteenth time. That movie is so dense with little glimpses of what life is like in that horrid society, I catch something new every time. Any other fans of the Dystopian genre? Stallone's Demolition Man is another I like. Everything seems so nice and peaceful in the progressive paradise they have built after the "Big One" until you discover that those who don't want to play perfect citizen aren't allowed to eat. I had high hopes when I heard they were making a film of The Running Man, but that nightmare vision (that seems all too possible sometimes) was just turned into a stupid comic book. The ending probably couldn't be done now anyway. Has there ever been a film adaptation of Animal Farm? It sticks in my mind that there was a film adaptation of it, TheHeretic, but I actually think it was done with humans instead of animals. I have a long list of lovely Utopian and Dystopian works from when I took a course on the literature and practice of establishing a utopia. Want to read about the horror of all-tree-hugging, granola eating, all the time, try Ecotopia. Sinergy p.s. I love the movie Brazil.
