Okay Ladies I want you to be honest who has the power in your home? You, your sub, a housemate, the UM's or a pet.

In mine it is my cats... I freely admit I am pussy whipped lol

I have four cats and I  admit that if asked to pick between them and a boy, they would be my choice everytime. That sounds harsh and cynical I know but I have faced the choice and guess what I still got 4 cats and I am single at the moment, now why you may ask would I choose my cats over a human. Simple: the only requirements my cats have is I feed them. A human just wants soooo much more. The cats are happy to wait until I make it home, my last ptr freaked if I was 10 min late (sweet but at 28 I can normally look after myself) and the cats are always happy to see me.

I am looking forward to the responses

I do without a doubt. My unmentionable comes next in line followed by my pets. If my sub lived with me, he'd fall in line after the kiddo.

Two dogs, a cat and two horses. They have a schedule and no matter what else is going on in the world the schedule prevails.

I share "power" (if you want to use that word) with my husband; as we believe marriage should be.

At this time he makes the majority of money and he deal with the financial paperwork and record keeping. However, I'm the more moneywise of us two so he consults me on anything that might be more than $50 or more than he has in personal money (we each get $10 a month personal fun money plus any gifts).

I'm the more organized of us two so I see and keep track of when chores need to be done. I never allow myself to do those chores he has agreed to do years ago -- I know full well that as soon as you take on someone's chores they will fight ever having to do them again.

For full family issues Fox (slave) has a voice in the decision; for issues affecting only or mostly himself Fox consults me and if it is very important he might also consult the husband. If it something that affects me, Fox has to get my permission (I have only very rarely said "no" to anything he wants, generally he wants things like overtime at work or to go out with friends or go to his parents' house).

I think families work best when everyone is informed and kept in the loop. The only additional thing here is that I own Fox and there are things I will exercise authority over. I have no desire to exercise any more authority in his life than I currently do.

then never have kids or pets because the consensus shows that they are the true rulers of our homes

I'm in that crowd... though my word is final just as it is with my partner & submissive... it is the children who tend to challenge it the most. I have to concede from time to time... I can't expect them to follow my directions exactly... they are teens & at a point in life where they will have to start making decisions on their own & when they make bad choices they will learn accountability & repercussions of making the wrong choice.

Now before anyone says I can't let them go around making bad choices... that I am a bad parent if I do so... I'm not referring to BIG things like sex, drugs, lighting their heads on fire or playing in traffic... I have a young lady who is going to learn the value of tending to her responsibilities before planning events that prevent her from fulfilling her duties. In this case it was her night to do dishes & she wanted to stay over at a friend's house where she was already visiting. She failed to take care of her task in a timely manner, she didn't take into consideration it is a weekend & that everyone is home & because of this the amount of soiled dishes increases greatly... not to mention we purposely added to them (I'm a stinker) Now when she gets home today she will find a mountain of dishes to tackle. (I did soak them in detergent)

Lesson in this:  don't put off till tomorrow what needs to be done today & that when you ignore little jobs they can become really big jobs

I do not agree that if you have pets then they are the "real" rulers of the home. I have two cats and while I allow them alot of freedoms they must also live by my rules. If they do not they are punished, plain and simple. They are my pets and while I love them dearly they are not going to take over my house and do whatever they want, whenever they want to do it. It takes alot more work than just ignoring it or allowing them to run the house but it is well worth the effort to me. While I do not like dogs, I do like the show called "The Dog Whisperer" as he thinks and behaves as "The Leader of the Pack" with his pets and as a result he has well behaved dogs. It is different with cats, however, it does not mean that I can just throw up my hands and allow them to take over. They add to my life not take from it, as I see it.

I definately am the head of my household and have been since the day I had my own household. I would not want or be able to handle it any other way.

I live in an apartment with my two cats, and I run my home. Sir gives input on prioritizing certain things. Sir runs his home, and I help take care of household chores and his dog and two cats.

We share equally in running the home....hubby and me.  We divided the areas of chores along the lines of what we can each tolerate the best and we will pitch in and help if the other one is behind due to health or work issues.  Big decisions are mutually decided.  I tend to be the long range planner so I initiate the discussions but we have equal say.

We have 2 cats and 1 dog.  One cat has diabetes so his medication & feeding schedule has to be followed but that takes 10 minutes twice a day and we don't revolve our lives around it.  We allow them a lot of latitude because they, in return give so much unconditional love, but we share the dwelling with them....bottom line we rule the roost as a human led partnership.

In My house, yes, I am first...... I hope My husband is second.  Very, very close third is My smallest cat, Nermal (yep, little grey, playful ball of fur, just like the Garfield comic strip).  Her nickname is either Spoilled or Not Spoilled, depending who you ask.  She basically has the run of the house, including most sitting priviledges (pet me NOW kind of scenerio), sleep in the middle of the bed, and darn near anything else she wants.  Two of the older cats take care of her entertainment whenever she wants it, and even clean her rather than her doing it herself (she'll even go so far as to wake the male cat up for the service).  I was even telling My boy last night that, if Mistress ever brings the kitten along, it will be his job to care for her..... but, Mistress' kitten is NOT SPOILED.  *Laughs*

Me, Myself and I.

I just bought a house and had it renovated to My specifications.  There is no better feeling for Me right now than the feeling of owning My very own house and living in it happily and it is MINE MINE MINE!!! LOL.  (The cat THINKS it's hers - meh)

My oldest um has a rare and severe mental illness. Between therapy and modern medications she can mainly cope with life. However her needs are paramount in what happens here. If she's melting down from stress, she needs to be let off of everything until she can recover. Her needs run the house, not her wants.

I think with my Daddy being in Iraq ... I get to run the house ... hehe.  I pay the bills, shop, spend the money and do it all.  If he were here however ... I don't think I would have the same luxuries and power ... and I think my monthly visits to the spa for massages would be ended in a heartbeat, lol.

LOL I have been wondering what the difference in results would be if O/our pets could type and add their input into this conversation. Somehow I think we would have ended up with a completely different theme emerging.

my dog is so hyper he has to spend th majority if his time in a cage when he is inside. I'm sure if he could add his input it'd have something to do with feeling like a slave spending so much of his time in a cage. lol poor guy. i wish hed calm down a bit so i could just let him roam free in the house.

I live alone, so it's me, and then my doggies. They are well-behaved, if even a bit spoiled.

I live alone with no pets.
LOL so it's either me or the houseplants depending on the day.
If I was in a D/s live in relationship I'd venture to say it would probably be similar to my first D/s relationship.
I'm the service oriented 1950's wife sort of sub.
Pretty much I had control enough to manage the house, kids, and meals without much instruction, but he had full control to veto anything or ask for certain things he wanted done.
So he had Sovereign rule, but I was the one under him in charge.

Definately me. My daughter and pets both affect my decision making, but i am still the one who says no or NOW.  The cats barely get a say but one dog is 18 and she gets her way most of the time....My poor partner knows he is last at the moment, but if i find an appropriate sub/slave he won't ahve to be anymore

LOL at this one.   I am supposed to run the home; however, I live with my aging mother, and I guess I am her submissive.
I run the slave's home, but not my own. LOL

Regards, MissSCD
