FR...

I love the Soprano's, so we watched the season finale tonight and my owner warned me that no matter what I would be dissapointed.  I cheered when Phil got shot and then crushed under the SUV and then I cursed at the TV when it went black, I thought my cable had gone out on me or my TV had fucked up.  The last half an hour or so of the sho just felt like a big waste.

C~

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:11:55 PM)

Worst.  Ending.  Ever.

I stopped watching 3rd season, but figured I should watch the ending go out.  I'd have even understood if they just left it with a music montage as normal with the family eating as normal and a "Well their lives go on as they will." sort of thing.

But the choppy cut to black?  The lack of sound?  WTF?

popeye1250 -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:14:39 PM)

Yeah, nice to see that no good bastard Phil get it!
The way they left the end they can start it up again in a few years when they go broke buying Hollywood mansions and shoving it up their noses.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:18:25 PM)

They could have done that with a "their lives will go on as they will" also.

The choppy cut and lack of sound just makes you think your cable got fucked up at the wrong moment, doesn't build anticipation, doesn't give closure or anything.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:26:30 PM)

I though for sure the guy in the booth sizing up tony was going to bust a cap on him.After working all day to get home early I was sorely disappointed in the ending.My brother call asking if our cable was screwed up as he had missing the ending.I told him nope just a shit for brains ending.. edited...Maybe the fade to black was a sign that they got him hey

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:28:11 PM)

I was completely disappointed with the last episode, but I have been disappointed with the whole entire last season too.  I think they just ran out of ideas for subplots at the end.  I still don't understand what the point of the screen going black as Meadow ran towards the diner was about.  It looked like she was distressed as she ran towards the door.  I didn't get that, she was going to meet her family at a diner.  Why did she look like she was going to the emergency room?  It was just a bad choice for an ending.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:31:09 PM)

I think the point is that the guy wouldn't have had a clear shot at Tony if Meadow had been sitting in the booth next to him.  (Wiseguys like us know about details like that.)  But she got there too late because she was having trouble parking her Lexus.  The old Meadow wouldn't have been driving a Lexus in the first place.

But it was a crappy ending, what can I say.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:33:11 PM)

The poor sweetie had problems parking,thats enough to stress out a diva...bounty

I actually checked my fucking box to make sure the power didn't go out at the end.

What a bore.  I did like Phil Leotardo getting his skull crushed under a truck though.  Cute moment.

you too????  I honestly thought my cable went out...I was cussin' all over the place...lol

after all these years of me watching that show....wtf??????

subrosajax -> RE: Sopranos (6/10/2007 9:47:40 PM)

really crappy ending! Very disappointing! They should have had Springsteen music playing in Sil's hospital room and shown him w/o the wig. LOL

Between the camera shots of Meadow trying to park, the guy at the counter who went into the men's room... it just left everything hanging BADLY. Not a way to END a show.

I did like the FBI agent being in bed with the other agent and then calling Tony... hehehe that was great. I thought maybe Tony and family would go into witness protection just to remain safe and then Meadow wouldn't have been able to marry the Parisi kid.

I liked the FBI agent cheering like he had money on a football game the just had the winning touchdown.... I guess sometimes they do choose sides.

As for the tension and fade to black...there were two big guys...all by themselves in a family restaurant, one went into the bathroom like Pacino in godfather one....Then two other big black guys who definitely looked out of place in that restaurant walked in and never sat down.. And all the smoke and mirrors about Meadow being delayed parking adding to the tension.....
I could believe they left us with a short parable about life for the sopranos looking normal but always having an undertone of threat for the rest of his life, purposefully choosing each element to generate a sense of urgency.

I could just as easily believe those shots were all part of a different story line that never got finished and the ending they gave us just showed they don't give a flyingfuk. I got up and I walked out determined not to watch the premier of the surfer movie that had always been the point of this ridiculously hyped evening.

Did anyone else find the cat totally creepy?

Cloudboy, I think you're right about HBO.
Their cupboard is getting very bare!
I tried to watch that "Entourage" show and after ten minutes I had to change channels. What a waste of time.
It sucked!

I wasn't really enjoying "John From Cincinnati"-that new surfer potthead show. Maybe you have to be stoned or on LSD to enjoy it.

I thought my recorder got a glitch and cut out the last bit, but then after checking the HBO West channel, I realized that the writer just took an enormous shit on us.

Yeah, I watched (that) show for 20 minutes before I switched channels! What a piece of shit!
HBO is really going to go into the dumper now that there's no more Sopranos.
How is any audience going to relate to a show about a movie star and his beer drinking buddies in Hollywood or some pot smoking surfer?
With all the supposedly "talented" people that they're supposed to have in Hollywood that's the best they can come up with?
Time to get some new writers!
I should go out to Hollywood and write for them, I have a whole bunch of ideas for shows that don't involve cops, lawyers or hospitals.

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Sopranos (6/11/2007 12:14:20 PM)

Yeah, I couldn't watch 'John From Cincinnati' for more than 10 minutes.  It will probably be like 'Arliss' and be on HBO much longer than it should be.  HBO seems to have a habit of cancelling their good shows and prolonging their bad ones.  I couldn't believe the cancelled 'Carnivale' and 'Oz' right when they were getting interesting.  I do think they did a good job with 'Six Feet Under.'  They ended that show when it should have ended, and they ended it well.

Sub03 -> RE: Sopranos (6/11/2007 12:17:39 PM)

Worst ending imaginable----there was a big buildup of that guy in the restaurant watching Tony and his family and the whole drama of meadow not being able to park for nothing........???????? I was excepting at least one gunfight in the final episode just because of where it ended last week----what about that huge gun Tony had? He didnt even use it......I kept expecting it to come back on after the it went black but nope. That had to be the biggest copout ever, they had a million ways they could have ended it and that's where they leave it? Just wrong.

Lordandmaster -> RE: Sopranos (6/11/2007 12:28:10 PM)

No, I thought it was just another example of their lack of ideas.

Lickinitall -> RE: Sopranos (6/11/2007 12:34:15 PM)

I HATED the ending but here is an intersting perspective , now it took me a while to come up with it but maybe David Chase is this smart?

The last 5 minutes Tony is in a family resturant, a normal activity. Everyones life seems to start getting better, Carmela a new house , AJ looks to be righting the ship, Meadow in law school.... yet we as the viewer are wondering who is gonna be clipped. Tony? Meadow outside? Maybe Carm or AJ? Maybe the guy walking to the bathroom? Maybe the thugs who walked in? Maybe a waiteress. Maybe he goes to jail? Maybe the feds barge in? .... It was so intense the last few moments always wondering whats next , never comfortable .. .. It could hav ebeen Chase's way of making us feel how it was to be Tony every day. All the questions , all the concerns.

Just an idea I had of why it sucked so bad LOL

Lordandmaster -> RE: Sopranos (6/11/2007 12:39:42 PM)

Yes, I think that must have been part of it.

Another theme was that they're all moral sellouts.  Meadow wanted to be a pediatrician, but decided to go to law school--and instead of representing poor black people, as she used to do in the povery center, she's focusing on representing councilmen accused of fraud.  A.J. wanted to join the Army to fight terrorism in Afghanistan, and took about two minutes to be convinced to work for a film producer instead.  The two kids both end up with nice cars, a Lexus for Meadow and a BMW for A.J., if I remember correctly.  So much for the great purge that A.J. supposedly felt when he saw his SUV go up in flames.  We've known for a long time that Carmela is a moral sellout, and of course Tony, well, there's no need even to discuss Tony.

But really, is it news that mob families are moral sellouts?
