"Do You!" whatever that may be! My version has little to with fantasy and everything to do with daily living, however, this does not me your version is "wrong" it just means it is "wrong FOR me" and vice versa!

Good Luck!!!

I am a dominant woman. New to average to the scene and well, my concept of being a Domina is that she brings her subs into her fantasies. Free to be the kind of Domina she wants to be- not falling for the stereotypes of what she should be. Am I right about this? Or am I off? Is there is certain protocol to being a FemDom?

Yes, I agree:  the protocol to being a Female Dominant is there is no protocol - - she is what she is.  She can dominate with a smile or dominate with a whip, she can dominate dressed in a flowered sundress or dominate dressed in full leather clad.  You get the idea. :)

You are definitely on the right track.  Every Domina and every submissive is different.  You have to go with what feels right to you.  The other Ladies have given great advice.

I had a mentor when I first started chatting in BDSM circles online.  She and I became friends and we talked for hours on end.  She would give Me ideas and I would take them and expand on them, make them My own and use them with My subs.  It was a great relationship and I owe her bigtime for helping Me become a Domina.  I learned tons by just watching her and listening to her and of course by reading as well.  Nothing is more substantial to Me than picking up a book and reading it.

Good luck on your journey, and Welcome.

With kind regard,
~Kara

I just couldn't let this go without saying "AMEN" and I wish I saw more newcomers with a sense of freedom. Too few assume there is a right or wrong way and get stuck in the maze of conflicting stereotypes.

DianaVesta - "I handed him the whip as an act of liberation." - That description and that sentence in particular just resonates within me. It reminds me of the first public scene I did as a bottom in Austin after about a year and a half in the local scene. Thank you.

I think there is some really good advice here but the fact that you already know that you are going to do things ‘your’ way is a great start to your journey.

When I first set out as a Mistress I had so much bad advice.
I laugh and smile a lot when I dominate but I was told that Mistresses don’t do that!
I show comfort to a submissive after a scene but apparently that took me down a peg in some peoples eyes.

Act as you feel comfortable and don’t try to take on other Mistresses traits because if you are naturally dominant you will get it right anyway.

I do believe there is a sort of protocol but its already been mentioned here and that is only if you are going out on the scene. Its just common sense stuff really.

Someone gave some advice about finding a mentor and I think that’s a great idea but again it very much depends on what your into. If you are a sadist and want to do some wickedly evil things then its good to have the right teacher.
