"do you read newspapers, little girl"

This one guy would IM me on Yahoo every couple weeks or so asking if I read the newspaper. I never responded, but now I'm curious as to whether he had some kind of fetish about the classified ads.

NakedGirlScout -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 3:45:23 AM)

I agree with hisannabelle, I've tried as an experiment to reply to all one-liners and the problem is that they're incapable of having a conversation in a written format at all. It becomes an extremely boring and painful exchange of inanity, or they quickly move to asking for sexual favors without getting to know me. So why even bother to encourage it.

Twicehappy2x -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 4:12:37 AM)

One i receieved awhile ago that included a cock shot;

"Hi, you'd like this big dick in you"

My reply

"Did you send the wrong cockshot?"

Another one that included a pic of a 350 lb man on a Honda;

"Id lik to tak u ridin soon"

My reply

"I do not ride hardlys"

I must confess that I am a one line sender too[:D] .  I don't recall ever being ignored.

It's important to remember it's not about how many words, but the content..

Even sending voluminous-worded letters, it's still about content...do you really have that much to say on first contact?

I've had the opposite happen to me...someone send  a well thought out life history and then, can't carry on a conversation.

So again, I do not believe there is a stereotype of one liner people.

one liner people unite[:D]

Well, I just received the following in my Inbox from a Domme in my area:

"hmmmmmm"

So I'd say it goes both ways...

Regards,

My first contact from Master was a on liner he wanted to know wher i lived in NY.  I amswered and as they say the rest is history.  I answered all my mail unless it was rude or offened me.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 7:46:10 AM)

if he's from PA, yeah we have met the same guy. i do believe he does have a newspaper fetish because he would message me every morning until i turned the tables on him asking why he wanted to know. oops, i guess i wasn't suppose to question him back. oh well, - i only wanted to know why he kept asking me that ridiculous question. at least, he's not messaging me anymore.

openmindedslave -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 10:21:01 AM)

I know there can be exceptions to the one liner rule, but seriously, most one liners can not really help you  out.
I have read profiles that say nothing ,, and I would just ask, maybe because they were in my area , or a picture shown intriged me, something about what they were looking for or their interest. Sometimes it would be nothing  more than an offer to chat and a wish that they find what they are seeking .Generally , it can open up conversation with someone.

Oh I agree. I answered my one-liner quite politely. But the point stands: a one-liner devoid of content doesn't say much and doesn't engender a positive impression or increase the change of a response in kind.

Rose4Mistress -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 11:29:45 AM)

I personally don't like the emails that stretch out pages and pages....I feel bad for the person because they put so much effort into writing something, and chances are I am not interested.  Also, I don't need to know about the name of your first dog, your favorite color, etc on a first email.
But I definitely see where you are coming from. An email reading "Hello." or "Your hot." is just as bad.
I prefer an email of a few lines, telling me hi, and a smidgin about yourself.  That tantalizes me so that I want to learn more.

hereyesruponyou -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 5:28:42 PM)

Cute one liners are fine and generally get a cute one liner back, which sometimes grows into a converation, but my favorite was

"I'll do anything for you"

to which i answered

"How about suicide"

he said no......darn

What are some of the best suggestions to have found for starting a conversation with someone new??

The suggestions from the brainy, bossy, and absolutely gorgeous MissBabydoll would be a pretty good place to start, in my opinion, openminded

It depends on who you are.

I was in a chatroom on yahoo 4 years ago and I saw this name in there I had never seen before.  I spent way to much time there with internet chat buddies.
I looked at the proifle, yes a solid steller yahoo profile and I nearly wet my pants.
Not only did the pic tell me something about the guy, but so did the words.
I IM'd him.  Something like "love the pic and message on your profile."
We chatted for nearly 6 hours.
If I did that here on CM to a profile and pic, I would NEVER get a response. I can guarantee it.

"I see were on line at the same time.Lets talk"
"I love those boots your wearing "
"here's my yahoo name, you can im me"

Please subs and slaves....Dont send one liners because your going to get no where fast. I saw these emails the other day a mIstress friend had  received. We laughted at them because the questions would have gotten a one line answer at best.

Look all of us... there are alot more of us than them.You  have to express yourself  better for a first contact..and a second..and a third.....

Does anybody else feel differntly or have some suggestions for first contacts? Lets put our best foot forward?

i tend to get these from Doms a lot of times

RowanJ -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/12/2007 10:47:13 PM)

It has always been my policy not to have a generic line or two.  Instead, I prefer to read ALL of the person's profile, and then let him or her know what I am interested in, and why.  It should be personal and involved, but not too long.  This is my opinion, anyway.

missdarque -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/16/2007 1:02:37 AM)

I once got "Is your last name Smith?" I replied "No" thinking they might be looking for a long lost friend. He responded "Would you like it to be?"

SusanofO -> RE: one liner help 101 (4/16/2007 2:10:53 AM)

if someone really really wants to pick up girls with a lame one-liner, and be successful more often, isn't there a Nigerian bdsm wesbite somewhere?

If not, shouldn't someone over there maybe start one? Ditto for any place where "mail order brides" are the order of the day for females in desperate situations, like Russia.

I am not un-feeling, I kinda do feel for them. I realize tey can sometimes work. Females maybe in these other countries, are more likely to answer affirmatively to a one-liner such as missdarque, above, recieved.

I wonder what he would have done (and I realize she is a lesbian), if she'd just written back and stated:

**"I've decided on  the basis of one sentence, to marry and turn over my life to you completely. Please do not question my sanity, I am not questioning yours. Just please e-mail me, or IM me, when you've chosen an engagement ring, and purchased my plane ticket. I am almost packed and ready! See you soon, darling."

**"By the way - I am a lesbian, so having sex is completely off the table between us, but otherwise the D/s part will work out great, I think! I took for granted that you knew that, seeing as you do how to read. Remember - no backing out now. A deal is a deal, and real Doms just don't break their word. Looking so forward to seeing you soon, honey. This is so very exciting!"

Love, miss darque

I seem to get more thoughtful messages from CM.  Still, this one from last night had me wondering how many men she must've copy/paste'd it to.
