hmmmmm, interesting debate...

The last 2 people from Collarme I met, I initially sent one line zingers without the intentions of meeting....how does that enter into the mix?

Always,
~curious~

I believe thats the third side of the issue, otherwise referred to as random chance and happenstance

So, girls.

Do you even have to bother messaging anyone at all?  Seems to me you can just pick out guys from your full inbox of messages.

Just once I'd like a girl who isn't 40 to message me and say "hey, you sound like a nice guy, lets chat!".

But with girls.  Their profiles are all like, "your messages have to be interesting!  It takes alot to get my attention!".  High standards!  How can I meet them!

For the most part, that's been my experience.  It's perfectly fine to expect high standards (it's good to know they won't meet every creep that e-mails them), but it makes it very intimidating for the genuinely nice and interesting guy to approach.

You're almost afraid to blow that first chance and risk having your future e-mails deleted.  What if you're not good at first impressions?  What if your wit isn't up to par with Monty Python?

curiouslyseeking, I was just about to post the same thing... by happenstance.

Well I don't tend to send a "first contact" anyway, I tried a while ago on a different site and after getting maybe one or two responses out of all of the messages I sent, well, I figured that it probably wasn't worth trying anymore, then here I figured it would be the same, so yeah.

I can assure you that this is indeed the case.  I've lost track of how many messages I've sent, and I always try to make it interesting in someway.  I never send one liners.  But I hardly ever get replies.

There seems to be a limited number of subs in my area. I've only met one in person(had alot of fun). Sometimes I see a really neat woman, but she lives several states away and has a big Will not Relocate written into the profile.

How come I never get random offers like that? *sighs*

I guess my profile probably makes me out to sound like I might actually know what I'm looking for...lol

is a long drawn out letter better than a 1 liner, you either like his profile and/or pic or not.
Words can come later.
