slcsub -> I Need A Makeover! (4/16/2007 9:58:36 AM)

Dear CM community. I hope you can help me!

In just under two weeks time there will be a "Fetish Night" at a local club here in Salt Lake City. This, to the best that I've been able to find, is one of the few avenues to meet other like-minded BDSM folks in the area. Even though I'm a shy sub I've made a personal commitment to attend to try to meet some new folks!

The problem is as something of a shy introvert (that's something of an understatement!) I've *no* idea what to wear or how to present myself. How should I dress as a male sub for this event?

The event is vanilla-friendly but I don't want to stand out as a square while at the same time I don't think being a muscle shirt is the way to go. [:D] Any tips?

I've got plenty of time to do mail order if necessary and ample budget. Help me, please! (Or just a word of reassurance would be good too!) [:)]

Thank You,
- don

Smiles,
Hello,
First take a deep breath... does the place you are attending have a website that  might say if they have a dress code or not?
That might give you a few more guidelines... i can remember going to an club/dungeon for the first time, lucky they had a dress code and that made it easier for me...
I do assist people in finding things for fetish wear and i makes costumes a business soon to be off the ground maybe...
Anyway, let me see if there is anything i can do to help you.. I know there are lots of folks that could tell you what to wear but i tend to go a different route... as in what makes you feel liike a sub or what looks sexy to you?  Hard to go into it all on here...
If you want to talk about it more please contact me off board at sweetavani on here..
Perhaps i can help you with something.

avani...
The dress code is fairly broad, allowing for fetish costumes all the way to "come as you are." It's been so long since I've been to a club socially that I'm not sure what that entails anymore! [:)]

It seems there is a theme for every month but this month's theme has not been announced. So no sense in worrying about that.

Thank You,

Most of the time the point is to be a charictature of yourself. Be yourself but just a slightly over the top you.

The fetish boy makover story! Surely a new series on the learning channel!!!

Humm. Difficult as I'm trying to discover myself in a way.

Male sub I would recommend black shorts, black leather combat boots, and a top of your liking. Fishnet generally looks fine on male subs.

Another look could be the potential butler: black sharply creased pants, well polished (to a shine!) shoes, tuxedo shirt (or at the least, white button down with french cuffs and cuff links) and a visible collar and leash (put the handle to the leash in your pocket - a leash handle hanging free is in some circles an invitation to ANYONE to pick up the handle of the leash).

Come as you are means just that - jeans and t-shirt, khakis, sweats. I'd recommend looking at some S&M porn and seeing the images of male subs that you like the most (obviously, nudity is not what I mean) and perhaps emulating one of the images that appeals.

A question about collars and leashes...doesn't wearing one imply ownership to another? I was thinking rubber wrist cuffs and to eschew the collar, making it plain that I am...er, um...available. [:)]

Thank you for the tips!

I'm going to the local club for the first time. Thankfully "basic black" is an option because I don't actually own anything else at the moment.

General advice: choose something that suits you and your body type. Think about shapes and styles that work for you, and then think of how to make them look "fetishy."

I'm partial to leather pants and richly colored shirts, myself.

If you wear all black, you will blend in. Whether you want to blend in is a matter of choice.

Elorin's idea of the potential butler certainly would appeal to me. I'm not crazy about collars and leashes, but the rest of the outfit sounds lovely. If you want to wear cuffs, I think Radiance Bound's signature silver cuffs are stunning and subtle. http://www.radiancebound.com/store.php?crn=202&rn=295&action=show_detail If you think that the crowd would understand flagging, try that.
