The website below can estimate your carbon foot print (personal emmissions) on our world:
 http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/emissions/ind_calculator.html
mine is about 18,500 lbs per year

Hmmm, well not having a car or anything, the only factor to generate emissions is really how much electricity being used, and it varies too much to really be able to say what the average is... Anyway.

I got 29,559, give or take 5 thousand due to the widely varying electric bills.

Fnord.

[Edit]

I went and googled for other energy use calculator type things, and, found this one: http://www.ecosiliconvalley.org/carbon_calculator.html which gave me 19454 pounds of CO2.. So woo.

Mine is 9,885.
I beat out all you Hippies!
And I drive a big Mercury Grand Marquis too but since I'm retired only about 9,000 miles per year and I get around 20 mpg around town here. But, you can go for a few miles without a stopsign or traffic light.
Also I recycle all plastics, cans, newspapers and magazines and cardboard containers.
And I live in a somewhat moderate climate so I don't use anywhere near the amount of energy that I used to up in New Hampshire.
Hmm, I wonder what Al Gore's "carbon footprint" is?

Al Gore has an "inconvenient" carbon footprint.

19,948, but I live in California and our electric bills are high.

And my footprint includes 3 people, not 1

Julia - right now there is only one person in my house.  And I am miserly about heat/air conditioning, ask my kids, we wear sweatshirts or sweaters (in the house) all winter.  Okay, I guess I'm sort of cheap.

Don't worry about it...my car gets 47 miles per gallon, I wear sweaters and my monthly electric bill is under 85 bucks a month, my place is a little over 3,200 square feet...and the calculator told me my carbon footprint is 517,812 pounds per year.

Roughly the amount Monsanto puts out between January and May.

(Something tells me it may not be entirely accurate).

It's gotta be those damn cats.

RE: What is YOUR carbon footprint?

I'm trying really hard to make my carbon footprint as large as I can.

I've got two SUV's.  Going to be shopping for another one pretty soon.

Man ... it takes $100 a tank for my 'burban, and it only gets about 12 miles to the gallon, but lordie, does it have room.  I can pack all the all the adult kids, and their significant others, my younger children, and all my grand kids, and still have room for a dog, a tent, and 20 days supply of food.

It's been in two accidents over the years.  Totalled the other cars.  Slightly scratched the paint on the 'burban the first time.  Busted a tail light the second time.

hehe

At least one other person has a sense of humor, thompson.

Actually, my "carbon footprint" from the calculator was 88,614, but that only takes into account ONE of my SUV's.  The other is a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and gets even worst mileage than my 'burban, so add another 13k of "carbon footprint" for a total of over 100,000.

I'm shooting for 200k by the end of the year.  .

I'm thinking of starting a website that offers "guilt offsets" complete with Jewish Mother Guilt.

Just imagine a life free of guilt.   Yep, guilt offsets are the new wave.

I'd betcha'd make a fortune, Crush.

Not a penny from me ... but there are a lot of angst driven people in the world.

FirmKY

btw ... a little over the year ago, I might have been at my target of 200k.  I had three more adults living under my roof, and was responsible for three more cars.

Don't you just love it when kids start to get their own places?

I live in a passive solar house, so I don't have a heating bill at all. We have a wimpy recycling program here; I'd like to do more with that.

Sure!

I've got a "burn place" out back on the lower 40 for stuff like that, but I like dumping 'em in the local sink holes more.

Trying to return the land to it's former topography.  Just doing my part, yanno.
