I hate mine. I bought a Trac-Fone at Target, and it is a gigantic hassle to "re-fuel" because there is always some glitch is the system when I try. I pay for the card (which can be bought at many convenience stores), but my minutes do not get added, despite the fact I follow the directions to the letter - and then I spend 2 days on the phone discussing it w/some "service rep" who finally agrees to add my pre-paid minutes.

**I have no real recourse when it doesn't work, other than to hassle things out w/a "service rep." It is getting to be a real pain.

Or, maybe I am just doing it wrong. But I'm not an idiot, and this has happened to me consistently. Maybe I just need to switch brands, and get a different phone, I dunno.

But - do not get a Trac-Fone, IMO. Maybe Cingular is better, I dunno.

I have a T-Mobile that I purchased at Target. I am MUCH more happy with it than with my old bill/plan phone. This phone is so freaking cheap, esp. once you get to Gold Rewards status ( basiclly once you pass the $100 dollar mark of money  you spent on minutes- you get a ton of minutes than with each reload and they are good for a whole year ). I talk rather regularly on my cell and it ends up costing me now about 25 bucks a month, with no bill or hassles such as contracts. I can reload the minutes via text message, set up automatic reloads or just buy a T-Mobile reload card in most places. I had the Cingular/ At&t phone and it sucked. They gave no minutes and were a real hastle. If you are going pre-paid, go with T-Mobile. Jeezz...I sound like a commercial but I am never going back to the contract trap again.

They work fine.  We use them at work all the time when someone has to travel out of the country.  They just pop out their own sim and pop in the one localized for their travel destination and away they go.

You will need either a 'Cingular' phone, or an umlocked one, but yes, they work fine.
