when you type fast reply are you saying you have not read the whole thread?

or are you saying you are responding to the OP?

kyraofMists -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 5:26:52 PM)

When I use it, it is because I am using the "fast reply" feature at the bottom of the page.  When you do that it shows that you are replying to the last person who posted and most likely I am replying to the thread in general and not a specific person.

It just shows the person is too lazy to go back to the begining of the thread (or specific person) to reply.

Greetings

for myself, it usually means that I have read the original post but just glanced through the replies; I am replying only to the OP.

I wish you well

It depends but since I generally read an entire thread before deciding whether or not to reply, it usually means I'm replying in general. If I want to reply to someone in particular I will usually use the quote feature.

WiseCracknSadist -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 5:57:04 PM)

I use it cause it's easier and I'm kinda lazy.

hisannabelle -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 5:58:32 PM)

greetings crouching,

i tend to do that a lot less now that i have started using greetings, mainly because when i typed fast reply before i wanted to make it clear that i was either responding to the op or to the thread in general, not necessarily to the person before me. i've found greetings tend to lend more clarity in this situation, among other useful properties.

If I type fast reply it means I am in a hurry and these are thoughts just off the top of my head.

SweetSarijane -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 6:02:19 PM)

fast reply.

I use it when I'm replying to the OP or thread in general and use quote or reply for a specific poster I'm responding to.

proudsub -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 6:08:01 PM)

I don't reply if i haven't read the whole thread.  Sometime i use "fast reply" because i am commenting on the thread rather than to a specific post or individual.

Casie -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 6:14:23 PM)

When I use fast reply it simply means I'm replying to the thread in general,

[tongue in cheek]

I dont use it because I firmly believe it is important to inflict doubt and uncertainty on everybody else.

"Was he posting to me?"  "Did he mean my post?" "How can I possibly respond?"

[/tongue in cheek]

Just me, etc.

slavejali -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 6:25:29 PM)

When i do this, it just means ive scrolled to the bottom of the page and started typing. I may have read all or none of the replies to the original op. ie. its not an indication that I havent read any replies to the OP. Sometimes, I could just be replying to the atmosphere of the entire thread.

Usually if I'm replying to someone in particular about soemthing I will paste a bit of what they have said in their post.

TigressFL -> RE: fast reply (4/19/2007 7:04:32 PM)

I had no idea what any of the features did so I tried them out and picked the way I like to do it lol  I either respond to the Op or do a quote reply. Anyone know exactly what Fast Reply is meant to be used for?

<fast reply>

I use it when I'm responding to the thread in general, rather than addressing a particular person.
