I did the first caning scene I've done in a long time last Saturday with a Dom who plays from a Rikki sort of spiritual approach.
I being an empath really picked up on his energy.
It got to the point I could feel the energy much like a force field around the cane.
I would fell a whispers breeze sort of physical touch about 2 inches prior to the cane making contact with my skin.
I also felt this energy field sort of aura that extended in a glowing sphere about 6 feet around us sort of like a protective womb with no walls if that makes any sense.
I felt his energy go through me and back to him in a complete circuit.
I think this may have to do with both of us approaching this as a journey of the spirit more than just playing for kink and fun.
Well though he was striking me very firmly I felt no sting and no pain at all really.
I felt the cane hitting me, but it was no more painful than if someone was giving me a deep tissue massage.
I've always felt the sting of the cane and don't usually handle strong blows without it changing my steady breathing or making me clench my butt cheeks at the point of impact..
This was possibly just my first experience with sub space.
I'm not sure if it's sub space due to the energy not making me float away or become unable to communicate, but it was definitely an altered state of consciousness.
Have any of you ever played from a spiritual approach that made the pain not tolerable, but rather non-existent?
Have any of you ever felt the touch of energy just prior to actual physical contact?
Any other observations and discussions are also welcome.
I am indeed discussing this experience deeply with the Dom that afforded me this journey with him and learning about this event from him as much as I can comprehend.
I thank him for his time, konwledge, attentions and skills from the bottom of my heart.
This is so different than anything I've experienced I'd like your opinions, experiences & input to encourage me into a deeper understanding of just what the heck happened as well.

Status: offline 		What an awesome experience, sounds as if you both connected on a level hard to understand unless you have been there.  Thanks for sharing, i will be intereted in hearing about others experiences, as i have nothing of my own to share like yours.

Status: offline 		The funny thing is I'm not very emotionally involved with this Dom.
He's new to our area and is been in BDSM a long time.
He does presentations, workshops and educational seminars and knows his stuff.
My friend sort of coaxed me into playing with him as she knows I don't play much and have such longing to play I'm almost beside myself most days.
We were really other than saying hi in passing meeting for the first time.
That's a big reason why I think this is all spirit as it was not an emotional bond already in place heightened.

I tend to feel it constantly.  Part of why it's very hard to surprise me.

For me play is all about energy on some level.  How I play, who I play with, what I use, how long I go, where I go- it's like being a thermometer constantly measuring changes in the air and adapting.  I've always been this way, I've developed it in some ways more than others.

But it's not something I discuss in detail publicly- for me it's a very intimate experience which few people understand and I don't frustration or confustion to dampen the goodness of it.

Yes, from both sides.

Yes, from both sides...even with people who claim to have no spirituality.

Scenes done with intent (of any kind) are often very different that scene we just kinda walk or fall into.

Status: offline 		What an awesome experience for you and he. I love spiritual play, and crave it so much that I find it almost difficult to "play" without it.

If someone isn't ~touching~ me in that fashion, I find I get easily bored and start doing something else - forgetting the fact that I'm scening with someone.

I'm very happy you had that experience - and very excited for you, too!

Status: offline 		From what you said you dont play that often and are often besides yourself. Perhaps he was able to get your trust very quickly and you were really looking forward to that scene and really was able to let yourself go and fully experience it.

Hi My Good Friend PonySeeker,
I'm one who usually lets myself relax and go with the flow in scenes I've done.
Honestly I trusted this mans skills and my friends word he was a nice guy and didn't know him very well. 
I'm not thinking it's a I trusted him deeply enough for this huge new experience to be about that trust factor in me.
I was very tense in the beginning of the scene thinking things like What the hell am I doing playing with a full stranger like this??
I had seen him play in the dungeon several times, but just had not been introduced yet.

I really think it has to do with I'm a spiritual person by nature. All my approaches are from a spiritual point of view.
I've not had the opportunity to play with someone focused on the full spiritual aspect of the TPE before this Dom.
Something in him and I both being grounded in the spiritual approach made the energy almost a tangible physical thing you could touch it was so strong between us one we hit the same energy wave.
That's part of why I'm so blown away.
I'd told him many have taken a journey in scening with me and I could see their journey, but the one I was on was not theirs, but rather next to them.
With this full stranger our energy united as one energy somehow and he took me, absorbed me, and I was part of his journey, not one on my own next to his.
Man to take feelings and clearly express them as words just does not do the thoughts justice some times so I'm just going to stop here as I think I'm rambling.

I am curiouse as to his experience with it.  Oh and ramble on babe you know I like it.

Status: offline 		Most of the scenes that I have done where I felt a lot of spriritual energy were as a top.
Having said that, no, I haven't played to the point where I couldn't feel the sensations/pain.
Yes, I have played where I could feel/sense something before it touched.

I would like to do more intentionally spiritual/energy focused scenes as a bottom.

Yes, as I mention in the OP I am indeed discussing this with him in depth.
Not to toot my own horn, but he said it was the deepest an most enjoyable caning scene he's participated in ever.
He said the energy was very different between us than it's been for him with other people as well.

He says he's thinking it was just the timing, the fact I needed and longed to play so terribly, and the way we connected.
He's not even sure if we play again if it ever will be duplicated or near that powerful a link for us in the future.
He said he saw an aura bubble around us and it was like he and I were the only two people in the world.
He said he felt so in tune with me he felt the circle of energy flowing from him to me and back in physical not just metaphysical ways as well.

Status: offline 		this is to reference to spiritual play.. thank  you very much for posting this in the forum.. for the longest time i thought i was on a path of knowing who i am and of my nature, through this path i have also been intuned with my spirituality as you call it also.. some Dominants who i can connect in better than with others.. All the time thinking i loved , needed to serve who i was with.. Little did i factor in that i needed thier energy. Be it at the time it was not always positive... feeling less energized, knots in stomach afterwards but yet orgasming from the energy between us.. Its been in the past year like i have said That i have been more picky with whom i'm in the presence of.. A positive full of energy so both can get the spiritual gratification we both needed to survive the days or weeks ahead.
