I agree, if you can't do this with your partner having full knowledge, it is cheating.
Solo masturbation and fantasizing about porn, or the person down the street, is just that, fantasy. There is no interaction, or real involvement. There has been no real attempt to act it out with that other person. (Not saying this can’t become a real problem for some people, but it’s not cheating)
Once you’ve made contact with another person and bring them into the equation, (net, phone, sitting across from each other) and you both start talking and masturbating, I feel that’s cheating. It doesn’t matter if afterwards you liked it or not.
A person can go down to the local bar, pick someone up, masturbate on them and/or have sex with them and it doesn’t matter if either of you liked it or not, it’s still cheating.
Once the decision is made between two people to hook up with the intent of sexual gratification, crosses the line to include intimacy and/or romance, it’s cheating.
People leave their partners over stuff like this.
The reason I see an online relationship as cheating, yet still not ‘real’.
Two people meet on the internet, become mentally and emotionally caught up and involved with what they think the other person is. Usually the person they think they know, have seen on cam, talked on the phone with, is not how they envisioned them, once they actually meet. This makes it unrealistic to me. I do agree that it’s not unheard of that two people finally meet and they’re perfect for each other, but I also think it’s rare.
