We incarnate in these our bodies that we may participate in the game of reality, to live, to learn, to evolve spiritually as individuals and to evolve together as a species.

You never know what meaning your personal life had, that is like trying to see the forest through the trees. It would be interesting if we could get above the tree line and see exactly what our life did in the big scheme of things, perhaps we get that chance when we die

I just do the best I can, live and love, be happy, and go on my merry way. The larger picture just changes focus when I peer at it too intently.

My only truth is this: I am a spiritual being having a physical experience.

There is no meaning.  We are a product of reproduction.  Beyond that I've no clue.

It is to grow, learn & love. Grab hold of life with both hands and never let go.

The Meaning of Life?

... it is a Monty Python movie, of course...

Others will send you links, quote you prose, and try to convince you that they know...

I can't wait to read the "wisdom".  Wouldn't it just knock your socks off to read "I really don't know", just once?

CuriousLord -> RE: what is the meaning of life? (4/23/2007 8:56:00 AM)

Monty Python?  No, it couldn't possibly be.  There would be a lot more demonic rabbits of wonderfulness about.  Or.. ..are there...?

Such a silly quesiton, isn't it?  The "meaning of life"?  The first answer I'd give for it is that there isn't any.  The more accurate would be, "What do you mean?"

42 = life, the universe, and everything

Solve for life.

Life = 42 minus the universe and everything.

Any questions?

Whatever you want it to be.  It's YOUR life, isn't it?

I firmly believe that the meaning of Life is not unlike the institution of Family. We are all here to in one way or another lift, define, direct, and/or level off each other much like in a Family dynamic.

CuriousLord -> RE: what is the meaning of life? (4/23/2007 9:15:27 AM)

Meaning is to serve a purpose.  There is no instinctually defined purpose.

"What is the meaning of life?" has an answer that can't be spoken in English.  It will be a massive fractical of a complexity we would be hardfound to even begin to understand the order of magnitude of.  One that, for all my ends, can not answer in the entirety of my life.  One day, some God will answer this question and it will be evolution incarnate.
For now, the only meaning of life that may be understood is the null set- nihilism.  Nihilism is the meaning of life of the null set, or.. {MeaningOfLife(null) = Nihilism}.

Still, as one would be unliked to accept nihilism and unable to begin to comprehend any other solution set (besides, perhaps, the infinite case?), it may be said that there is no meaning to life, or, more bluntly put, none which we might understand.  This answer covers nihilism in that one may say it is the essense of life having no meaning.

Technically, there would be no life involved in the scenario you describe.
