ORIGINAL: desertdancer If you do decide the brush is the way to go (owies) I suggest you get yourself to your local beauty supply store and get some barbicide or something of the same level to clean it. Brushes harbour all kinds of germs that you do not want to be placing in such a tender place. Disinfect and Sanitize are fancy words for clean. Clean is a relative term. Disinfect: To cleanse so as to destroy or prevent the growth of disease-carrying microorganisms Sanitize: to free from dirt, germs, etc., as by cleaning Sterilize: To destroy all living microorganisms, as pathogenic or saprophytic bacteria, vegetative forms, and spores. Sterile is an absolute; something is either sterile or it is not. There is no in-between. Barbicide” can disinfect pre-cleaned non-critical items (items that do not penetrate intact skin or contact blood or body fluids) such as surfaces, combs, brushes, rollers, chairs, and scissors and clippers that have not nipped the flesh. Barbicide is a low level disenfectant and WILL NOT destroy HIV, Hep C and other critical viruses. Even most hair stylists and barbers do not use Barbicide correctly. Thank you, I used the word "clean' because from his post I was not sure if English was his first language or his second. I wanted to keep things simple. As for most stylists not useing barbicide correctly, you are correct. Thre is one, I think it's called bio-teck ( though it's been 10 years since I used it, so I'm not sure that's correct) that does kill HIV. Barbicide + does like to say it kills it, though to be honest I don't trust anything.
