Something I found out the hard way:

Having a degree does NOT automatically guarantee anyone a job.
When the waiters/waitressess say, "Be careful, that plate is hot!"  ...  they mean it.
Just because a person is older, it doesn't mean that they can't still chase you down and beat the crap out of you.

Maybe for you...it's been quite real for many years for myself.  Got the toybag packed out in the car with about 300 feet of rope and other assorted goodies ready for use this evening.

Probably too many things to remember but here's five right off the top:
 
1.  Life isn't always fair.
2.  There really ARE sociopaths among us (and most of them are NOT criminals
     but simply "everyday" people lacking empathy or much of a conscience).
3.  So much of the time, the bullshit artists are the ones who get taken seriously
     while sincere, knowledgeable people don't get heard.
4.  Breaking Master's rules leads to real punishment (not physical and definitely
     NOT some hot, kinky, fantasy-fulfilling-type punishment).
                                  and...on the lighter side.....
5.  When accidentally locked in a small bathroom, my ample ass CAN squeeze
     through a small vent opening to escape (long ago "college days" story...LOL).
