Im a big fan of the red wine in cases like this. You can pretend to be drinking because you enjoy the taste, the buzz is pretty mellow and you get the most bang for the calories without going all hard core (as in straight liquor). Yeah, it makes you weepy, but that's the idea, right? One caveat: Hide your cell phone and all your old address books so you don't end up calling old boyfriends/girlfriends and embarassing yourself.

regret to inform the assembly, I have failed to get drunk after all. Its Steven Spielberg's fault - him and a conspiracy at Channel 4 television that meant I never got to the offie or the pub. Close Encounters is a good film, so there! And thinking that, probably means I shouldnt be drinking, given my apparent psychological challenges. E
