GreyStorm -> Don't Panic (5/1/2005 9:48:44 AM)

Hitchhikers opened this weekend and I am off to see it. It looks like a great movie. Anyone else gonna see it?

Post reviews here.

Nope.

'Coz I am depressed, really, really depressed.

Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and all someone can ask is if I can go and see it.

*giggling*

LMAO, now that made me giggle. Masculinly of course.

The movie was funny at times but I don't think it really captured the flavor of the books. The effects are incredible and make the flick.

So long and thanks for all the fish.

I so want to go... I am going to go check booking times now...

I'll see it, but I admit, I'm worried that this is a book that should never have been turned into a film. It seems like overkill. THe language is such that one doesn't -need- to be bombardad by the visuals.

So I'm going to see it, but try to divorce from the actual book, and enjoy it as what it is.

I have never read the book - OMG i cant beleive i admitted that lol but i want to see the film altho its just opened here in NZ and the reviews arent that great - still nothing like making up one's own mind.

In the UK, the book was transfered into TV in the 80's. It was a reasonable transfere. My concern is that my head is too set in seeing the charachters the same way as the TV version - especially Marvin, from the trailers he looks way to cute.

Peace and Love

The movie didn't transfer from the books very well for me. Thumbs down.

Also thumbs down to A lot like love.

And WARNING!!! Kung Fu Hustle is completely subtitled. Master tricked me into that one. [X(]

Absolutely, in fact I'm going with a whole group of Firefly fans before our munch on Saturday.

I've heard very mixed things about it, but I have to see it so I at least know what everyone else will be talking about.

Greetings!

*smiles* Saw it on opening day. i'll agree that it was a difficult book to transfer to a movie but it came out well enough that i was glad to have gone and seen it. Plus, there was enough action and funny scenes to keep my 5 yo slightly ADHD afflicted son interested! (That's a huge bonus when i take him with me! :D)

i give it **** stars outta *****! :P

Well wishes

I have followed the series from the original radio show, which imo was the best presentation of it. Every transition, from radio -> novel -> tv series has lost something, and I the transition -> film will lose something more. From the previews, it looks very Americanised ... lots of action, heroic behavior, and apparently there's even a romance. Additionally, reports from those who have seen it tell me they've actually left the punch lines off many of the jokes, leading me to believe the producers don't understand Douglas Adams' humour at all.

On the other hand, nothing will keep me away from the Serenity movie.
