Status: offline 		The anarchy thread got me thinking (please skip the jokes and comebacks). Topics of human nature, inter-relationships, and social organization have always been fascinating to me. I began to wonder how all of us here would react to having to live with one another absent outside societal controls.

So, let’s say that by bizarre coincidence, all of the regulars here on the message boards booked the same flight to Australia (all of us were suddenly griped by a need for some vegemite). Unfortunately, the planes navigation system goes haywire and the flight crashes on a deserted south seas island. The flight crew is killed but the rest of us miraculously survive (yeah, I know these are a lot of coincidences, but this is a hypothetical). We quickly realize that the searchers will be looking for us in the wrong place and that we are likely to be here a long time – perhaps the rest of our natural lives. The island has plenty of fresh water and food (fruit, wild boars, fish, etc) and is large enough to support us and probably several generations of decedents (the island most definitely does not have any weird smoke monsters or mysterious others).

So, what happens next? Who do you think would emerge as the leaders? What form of society would we form? Would we stay united or break up into different groups? Would a left/right split develop? Perhaps we would split along national lines (for example, the Brits heading out to form their own community) or even along lines of sexual preference (for example, the female dominates, with males subs in tow, heading out to form a matriarchal community or the Goreans founding "New Port Kar")? If we do split up, would we be able to live in peaceful coexistence or would the Goreans and the Matriarchs be waging war before long? How long before someone (probably me) is being chased through the jungle ala "Lord of the Flies"?

What would you be doing in all of this?

While I started thinking in serious terms, I realize the potential for humor and rib poking here. I’ve no objection to that at all (sometimes when debates get heated, we should step back and lighten up a little). Serious or humorous, it’s your call (it is why I have put this in the Random Stupidity board).

As for me: because of the potential for a "Lord of the Flies" situation, I’m heading to the hills to wait and see how things shake out. I’m going to want some companionship, though, so I’m going to kidnap one of the submissive women to be my slave. Most likely Aileen (I said it before and I’ll say it again, I love that smile). Missturbation and Mixielicous would also be high on the list. I’d consider JuliaOceania but Sinergy would probably track me down and kill me.

There would be many late-night campfire discussions for sure, but in a place like that many of the distractions and unnatural stresses of modern life would be non-existent, and I think that the Libtards and the Contards would get along famously.

People have their natural gifts and talents and a system of bartering would break out all over the island. There would be a fight to the death or two (perhaps), but it would be over something stupid, and it could be between anyone - not between the Left and the Right necessarily. Opposites attract, they say - so it's impossible to know exactly which alliances might develop

Status: offline 		Clearly, someone of great intellect, wide education and enormous leadership skill would be needed to take control, if the island is not to deteriorate into chaos. Someone neutral to the whole dom/sub, male/female and political and other dichotomies that might otherwise divide the island society.

I require 4 weeks vacation and first pick of any fruit and meat the rest of you scavenge together, and I can make an immediate start, once my palace is built.

       I'd vote for you too, Lady E, but you are going to need a contractor to put up that palace, and a means of payment.  As your director of actually getting shit done, I'll require 10 weeks vacation, and semi-weekly deliveries of fresh slave girls.

Some of this is hilarious, thanks for participating. On a serious note, I think that common cause – survival – would keep us together in the first hours and days but eventually personality conflicts would exacerbate political and social divisions and the break up would begin. Sorry if that sounds pessimistic.

I can’t decide if this is a jest or a seriously snide dig. I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt but just in case I’d like to say that in my profile, and several posts on these board, I have never denied having never participated in an actual BDSM. Well, if I’m just going to type about it, I might as well go for it (and just in case somebody does get offended, it is all in tongue-in cheek good humor folks):

Marc took off his back pack and rummaged through it till he found the binoculars. He hung them around his neck and started climbing the tree. He had climbed many a tree during his childhood but those had been maple, oak, and willows. It had taken some trial and error learning to climb palm trees. This palm tree was on one of the highest hills on the island and from it he had a view of nearly seventy percent of the tropical isle. To his right he could see the huts in the distance that comprised New Port Kar. He could also faintly hear what he usually heard from New Port Kar – drunken revelry. To his left, further in the distance, he could just make out Sapho, what the femdoms called their experiment in matriarchy. Both groups seemed content to leave others alone so long as they were left alone. That suited Marc just fine.
 
It was what was below him that interested him. The main encampment down by the beach. In an exercise of dark humor it had been officially named "This Sucks," the day after the crash. A week later it had been renamed, this time in a lighter vein, "Moderatorville." But everybody called it the Main Encampment. Things were not going well in the Main Encampment. Heretic had launched a coup against Lady Ellen. Things apparently had not gone as well as Heretic planned. The supporters of Lady Ellen, though caught by surprise, had rallied. Fighting raged in the center – the matter was still undecided. Some people had scurried off to the outskirts of the Main Encampment, trying to stay out of it until one side or the other clearly gained the upper hand. Fools, thought Marc. Didn’t they know that the winners, after dealing with the losers, almost always then turned upon the fence sitters?
 
A few people were hastily gathering up supplies and heading into the jungle. A smarter move, thought Marc. It looked like there were going to be several more "Lone Wolfs" like himself. The term wasn’t entirely accurate. Each of the so called Lone Wolfs had their own encampment – privacy seemed to be what each valued most – but once every week or so they got together to share a fire, some food, information, and simple human fellowship.
 
Whatever the outcome the Main Encampment was once again going to loose population. There might even be another large breakaway or two after things settle down again. Marc saw that a few of the new Lone Wolfs were headed in his general direction. They would arrive at his position in about ten minutes. It was time to leave.
 
Marc took a long look around to make sure that spear wielding lunatic Rumtiger wasn’t around, then scooted back down the tree, put the binoculars away, and turned his attention toward his slave girl as he re-shouldered his back pack. "Heel," he said as he turned around and strode into the jungle. "Yes, Master," she replied as she hurried behind him.

Yeah... It probably would.  In reality, however, I would never kidnap anybody but what good is a fantasy if you can’t indulge your dark side? And being my fantasy, I get to make the rules.
