I adopted a new dog from the shelter a week ago. She is about 1 year old. Seems she likes to steal socks from the drawer and hoard them in her doggie bed. Its funny to see your dog running from the bedroom with a sock in her mouth. I take them away but she just goes back for more. She doesn't chew them she just hoards them. [;)]

I have a washing machine that does the same thing - you put a pair in, and one of the pair is nowhere to be found afterwards. Presumably, when they take the machine away for reconditioning, a veritable treasure trove of socks will be found somewhere in the casing. So far though, I have yet to catch my washing machine running anywhere. But the psychiatrist does recommend I cut down on my meds, so who knows what I might see yet? E

My adopted greyhound had a pantyhose thing that was very similar. He wouldn't eat them, just would hide them all over the house like they were some sort of treasure. Came home early one day and found him in the living room surrounded by 10 pairs of pantyhose. The look on his face was like "Oh shit!". Too funny. Perhaps it's just an attachment thing. He/she misses you while you're gone at work. Why socks though?

My rabbit, yep i said rabbit likes to chew on expensive underwear. He never touches the cheaper every day underwear i have, just anything over about £50.

You're lucky that your pup only hides them. I've got a kitty that chews up - and eats - everything. He's an official garbage guts. I found him chewing a pair of chopsticks in the kitchen one day. Not a trace of them to be found on the floor. I held them up and found that one was at least an inch shorter than the other. He also eats socks... holes in shirts... blanket and pillow fringe... entire packages of Certs mints (not that it does anything for his foul breath). He'll also sample any sort of people food once. Twice... three times... four if he likes it. And he's an aggressive little brat about it. Someone (okay, okay... it was I) spoiled him rotten when he was itty bitty.

I have a rabbit who likes to chew on my shoes... again, only the expensive ones. It doesn't matter how many of her own toys she gets, the shoes are always under attack. I feel your pain! lol.
